Air Force Giving HUGE Bonuses (up to $125K) To Pilots
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here. It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: It sounds like the Air Force is trying to ramp up drone operators while downsizing the rest of the force. A few years ago they were offering huge bucks to pilots to reup.

Some pilots are eligible for a $25,000 bonus to re-up. Shown here are Maj. Dan Bradford and Capt. Phillippe Melby preparing for takeoff on a KC-135 Stratotanker at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash.

Hundreds of pilots, including those who fly unmanned aircraft, are eligible for big bucks if they promise to stay in the Air Force at least three more years.

2. Are civilian airlines trying to lure them away?
I can remember bonuses around $5-8k in the late 1980's, but nothing this big.

4. I don't know about "big bucks"
After taxes it probably works out to about $1600 a month.
