1. And the Iraqis attacked babies in incubators in Kuwait.
Is what we are being told true?

I dunno. The early report usually ends up very different than the final report.

3. Yes, this is true.
I'm following a small group of activists on the ground. They are alerting each other. Mubarak's thugs are trying to incite violence.

10. Just amazing...
How good and pure the anti-govt forces seem to be... and how wicked and mean and "molest-y" the govt forces are...

Seems to fly in face of good sense and statistics. Oh well! *la dee da dee da*

Careful what y'all wish for cause you are gonna get it...

21. Um, the protesters aren't trying to provoke the Mubarak thugs.
No, it doesn't fly in the face of good sense in any way. Good grief.

that seems to make it to GD. Also, "I saw it on Twitter" doesn't fall under the category of "confirmation"

23. Well, had you spent the last week learning who was who in Cairo
maybe twitter would make more sense to you.

And of course, you are free to post your own preferred news to GD as well.

12. Maybe.
I think corroboration that a rumor is circulating is different from corroboration of evidence of an event.

Under the circumstances lots of rumors are probably spreading and people are hearing them from multiple sources. Very difficult for me to know at this point.

25. One of Amy Goodman's guests, a college professor in Cairo,
was assaulted by Mubarak's thugs as she left the studio. They tore neckalaces off her neck, beat her and ripped her shirt open. Amy reported it this morning. Noha Radwan.

27. Third hand, at least, with your reporting...
I don't mean to say all the stories are wrong. Not at all.

What I am saying is the people telling the stories aren't neutral.
At this time, few people are able to be both informed and neutral.

I'll hold to my scepticism about what is truly happening and wish the Egyptian people the very best as they seek something better.

At this point, they are creating a vacuum and the vacuum will be filled.

28. She was on camera this morning with Sharif live in Cairo.
Turns out she's a professor at UC Davis.

I agree with you, though. This weekend there was one of those free floating stories that women were being raped all over Egypt. It was badly sourced and bs meant to stir up fear.

It is important for us to ask ourselves how we know what we think we know, especially at a moment such as this one. :hi:

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/canada/breakingnews/canadian-tv-cameraman-beaten-by-mob-in-egypt-escapes-with-armys-help-115128869.html

A Canadian news cameraman was beaten by an angry mob in Egypt on Wednesday, one of many ugly scenes on a day when the country's ongoing political standoff took an increasingly violent turn.

Sylvain Castonguay, of the CBC's French all-news network, was punched in the face and then swarmed and pummelled by dozens of people in Cairo before being rescued by soldiers.

Numerous journalists were attacked in what media-rights groups called an orchestrated campaign of intimidation; they accused hired thugs of working to save the presidency of Hosni Mubarak.

<snip>

The Canadian government, in a statement issued late Wednesday, demanded that the Egyptian regime protect civilians and warned that it had better not have been involved in orchestrating attacks.

13. It just underscores Mubarak's unfitness for office. He needs to be
jailed; his ill-gotten family wealth seized; the thugs in his employ need to be prosecuted and imprisoned; and a military government installed until the September elections.
