Romney Says Palin Would Be "Great" As A 2012 GOP Candidate

Which only goes to prove that Romney isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Making the media rounds Tuesday, former Republican Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney supported Sarah Palin's potential bid for the GOP's 2012 presidential nomination.

"I believe she is an extraordinarily powerful and effective voice in our party, that she has generated a great deal of support and attention, that she'd be great in a primary process," he said on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight." "She'd bring attention to the process, and frankly, the more people we have on the stage in those debates talking about different ideas and different approaches, the better."

Romney did not give specifics on his plans for 2012 but said his wife believes he should run.

------------------------------------

His wife thinks he should run? What do his sons Blip, Dip and Rip think about the idea? Are they up for another tour of duty "serving their country", driving the campaign bus for daddy?

11. I suspect Rommey is going to wait 4 years and then run
Obama, just like Clinton back in 1996, will be tough to beat. The RNC is already in massive debt and perhaps it would be better to focus on making more gains in the house and winning the senate then to worry about the president this term.

2. I thought Romney's sons were
Biff, Buff, Bingo and Boink.

Anyway, this should put those rumors to rest once and for all that Romney's running next year.

4. Romney is just keeping his powder dry.
Palin's Rabid following will evescirate any Republican politician that attacks Sacred Sarah. She's raising more money than they are.

5. Romney vs Palin the primaries is a must. The statesman and businessman vs the half-term quitter.
It's going to be a shit sandwich for the GOP.

by comparison. He's just offering lip service at this point because it's cost-effective for the benefit of his candidacy in the long run.

7. They threw McCain at Obama... that was all they had that was expendable...
He threw Palin at Obama, and lost.

Yep. I agree with the statements upthread saying they have no on who can beat Obama. I'll further that by saying Palin is expendable. Watch for her to be propped up. This will also keep their TeaBaggers whipped to an angry and stupid froth, which is always a priority.

8. He won't win a single Southern primary ('cept maybe Florida)
And yes it's because of his Mormonism. Southern Baptist Republicans won't vote for a Mormon.

And a lot of Mainliners and liberal secularists have issues with Mormonism as well. That is, if he gets to the general election.

12. I don't think he'd win Florida either
If the Huckster's in the race, I think the South is his. That won't get him all the way, but it will be a huge boost.

15. A lot of Southern states have late primaries though. Not sure in Huckleberry can hold out in his

campaign long enough to win the South. He Ain't got a chance.

I look forward to seeing the contest between Failin' Palin and Mittens. I am guessing Sarah will lead and Mittens will have to prove he's RW enough for the baggers. But I expect Sarah to be supported more in the media than she was in 2008.

18. The huckster is not a very good money raiser
He showed that in '08. Palin and Romney can raise gobs of cash. And Obama will raise well over $1 billion.

10. Translation:
'I'm very worried about her. I don't like her and it's not fair that she could probably beat me in the primary and then would go on to get trounced in the general. I hate that I'm having to suck up to her, especially since if she doesn't run she still won't endorse me.'

I think Romney absolutely will run. It's going to be an interesting primary season for sure.
