Anyone else have a phobia of large crowds?
I got trampled at the screening of a Frankenstein movie when I was a little shit during the 60's and it has effected me my entire life. I remember it felt like I was suffocating.

Never liked being in crowds since.

1. Depends. If I am near the edge or have a useful escape route, it doesn't bother me. But if I'm in
the middle or caught in a crush, then I worry.

3. I don't either
I almost was crushed during a concert in the early 70's. I was up near the stage and held up by bodies crushed together, my feet were not touching the ground. I could barely breathe.

5. Not a phobia, but a healthy respect.
And my head is on a swivel, periodically checking the currents, so-to-speak,

6. No serious phobia but very veyr strong dislike of
large groups of people. I avoid it at all costs.
Don't even like to be in crowded stores.
I DO feel some anxiety even watching crowds.
One of the reasons I am more comfortable living in very small isolated communities,
for real. Cities make me anxious.

Might be something from childhood that I do not even remember, dunno.

8. I get a bit claustrophobic in a large crowd
I have to have an easy way out, be on the aisle or near the exit.

10. I don't care for large crowds.
I wouldn't even feel comfortable in a packed movie theater.

11. Yes
One night, working in an over capacity-nightclub, I lost it. Never was the same after that. I can be in crowds but if I can avoid them, I will.

12. How do you feel about Frankenstein and/or movies?
I don't like crowds either. Not sure why. I tend to get claustrophobic in tight spaces as well.

13. No, but I was at an AC/DC concert a few years back that had
me worried. It was in the Tacoma Dome and those idiots only opened two exits to let the crowd out. We file out to the outer concourse and find ourself stuck in a throng that isn't moving. There were no signs of trouble, but it was one of those situations where if someone did something stupid and spooked enough people, it could have been dangerous.
I was with a smaller buddy and his even smaller wife. I maneuvered us over to the wall to wait till it thinned out a little. We would have just stayed in our seats for awhile if we knew it was like that.

14. me, i almost got trampled during the huge halloween parade once
my rib cage was getting crushed, I was being forced to the ground by the shifting bodies around me. I grabbed someone's collar and yanked myself up, pretty much clwed my way to the edge of the crowd. Very bad.

16. I do!
Worse time was when I was at the Convention Center in Cincinnati back in late 1970's or early 1980's for a cub scout event! Besides being swarmed by all these bodies breathing up all the air, they were all dressed alike in uniform! My one daughter likes to get close to my face and suck in all the air to see my gasp for air! I know, doesn't make sense, but ever since that cub scout convention I need my own air space!

18. I'd rather be in crowd of demonstrators than a crowd of shoppers
I'm with you on the malls.

19. Depends on why the crowd is assembled and how it's behaving.
I've marched in a dozen large crowds in support of abortion or against war and never worried about my safety.

On the other hand, I've steered clear of "mobs" of individuals who have a herd mentality and take on a life of their own.

21. Not a 'phobia', but crowds tend to lower my opinion of humanity in general.
So I avoid them.

22. I don't have a phobia of crowds, it's the logistics that get to me.
Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians in Tahrir Square for days at a time, are there port-a-potties? Where are these people going to the bathroom? Yes, in the midst of chaos,I wonder about things like that.
