Hoping my giant sycamore makes it. It's a beautiful tree that shades most of the back yard in the summer. Far enough away from the house, but some of the larger limbs are really bowing from the weight of the ice. I feel a bit helpless.

Stay safe!

1. Hoping for your tree, too...
and that if it does fall, no one gets hurt. Be warm and safe.

3. Hard not to feel helpless in such a situation. Here's hoping it survives intact but
it will survive. Have you filled some buckets and bottles with water in case of a blackout? Preparing for something like a blackout (god forbid) can lessen a sense of helplessness. The other things that works is sleep, snuggle up under the covers and let nature takes its course. Hope all goes well.

ps I really love your K Gibran quote. :hi:

4. i hope yours survives and i hope my huge, frail tree survives too
(and i hope my roof survives!)
i have over a three foot wall drift on my patio--i keep shoveling so i can get the door open to let my little dog out. a couple hours ago she went out and said "fuck this" and turned around to come back in.

twenty minutes ago she was desperate. we went out again. what a nightmare! and i've always loved snow. not so much tonight.
