Frank Luntz Blames Fox News For His Biased Focus Group
It looks like James Rainey of the Los Angeles Times picked up on the same issues I did regarding Frank Luntz' anti-Obama focus group that panned discussed the State of the Union address on Hannity last week. But when Rainey contacted Luntz for comment, he came up with a rather surprising defense: Fox News wanted the anti-Obama bias.

Rainey writes:

Luntz defends himself by saying that he has conducted focus groups before that favored Obama, including during the 2008 campaign. He has suggested that his airtime has previously been cut on Fox because his findings didn't comport with the outlet's orthodoxy.

Good to know that when his methods come under scrutiny, Luntz blames Fox News for his bias.

1. he was just as biased when he did them on MSNBC
he used to do his thing on "Hardball", and he would routinely argue with his panel or simply overrule them to get the pro-Bush message out there.

2. Pretty funny that Luntz is basically admitting that his "focus groups" are bogus.
What good is a focus group if they are set up in a biased way?

If he had any professional standards he would insist on focus groups which are representative of the group that is supposed to be the "focus".

3. Did Luntz form pro-Obama focus groups just to oppose Hillary?
**Luntz defends himself by saying that he has conducted focus groups before that favored Obama, including during the 2008 campaign.**

So, the only time Republican Luntz stacked the focus-group deck in favor of a Democrat was when that Democrat was running against a Democrat the Republicans REALLY feared: Hillary.

I knew the left-wing press was Pro-Obama and anti-Hillary (at least Olberman later apologized for it.) Now we see evidence that the right-wing press was, too.

4. Perhaps Mr. Luntz should be a little more inquisitive
After all, when you're cashing big fat checks, it's possible that some of the money might be tainted. The disingenuousness just leaps off the screen, though; as if Luntz had no idea whatsoever what results his client wanted and that he eagerly provided. No, he's shocked, shocked! to discover that Fox is biased.

5. 2000 (was it CNN?) Lutz tells us that the Focus group right behind didn't think W did too bad
Edited on Tue Feb-01-11 02:43 PM by underpants
I remember that none of the numbers he put up supported that and while he was saying it several people in the focus group right behind him had puzzled looks on their faces.

Supposedly no one knew that Lutz was a GOP operative at the time.... uh-huh
