When do the first republican challengers to Obama announce their "exploratory committees?"
Edited on Mon Jan-31-11 10:58 AM by Renew Deal
Typically candidates announce their committees the January, February, or even December before? So far no credible candidates have announced that they are running for president. I wonder why it is, but I think the reason is that any one candidate doesn't want to be Obama's punching bag until more of them announce.

I am happy about one thing. No Democratic primary and no primary wars on DU. :D

So when do you think candidates will begin to announce and who do you think is running?

6. Prediction: There will be primary wars on DU any way
Fought over imaginary candidates. "If only X were running, s/he could destroy Obama's chance at the nomination."

5. I heard about that.
But he's a republican that wants to run Super Bowl ads. It's a stunt.

4. I guess that mean Herman Cain will be the uncontested Republican candidate
As I think he is the only GOPer to form an exploratory committee yet

14. It sounds like the Pubs are being overly cautious
or they really don't have a lot of confidence that they'll win in 2012. President Obama seems to be in a much stronger position here in 2011 overall than Clinton was in 1995 and he didn't get a primary and went on to win the GE the following year handily. I seriously hope that 2010 was the Republicans blowing their final wad with the Tea Party. How (and with what) are they going to "gin" things up for 2012?
