The U.S. of Shame -- What Is Your State Worst At? (The State of Washington -- YIKES!!)

NY's worst? Longest commuting time, and compared to some other states. I will take that.

Also, check out Mississippi:

24. Mississippi: highest rate of obesity (35.3 percent of total population)

BONUS facts: Mississippi ranks last in the most number of categories. These include highest rate of child poverty (31.9 percent), highest rate of infant mortality (10.3 percent) lowest median household income ($35,078), highest teen birth rate (71.9 per 1,000 women aged 15 to 19) and highest overall rate of STDs.

And its Governor, Haley Barbour, is a serious contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012?!?!

Finally, hey Colorado, all these years, and I thought that it was snow on your mountains.

2. Illinois Most Corrupt State? Nah, Florida's Still Got It.
http://blogs.browardpalmbeach.com/pulp/2008/12/illinois_most_corrupt_state_na.php#

The New York Times' Bill Marsh found the statistics. When it comes to corruption, Florida crushes Illinois in terms of raw number of convicted officials. We're No. 1, with New York a rather distant second. Chicago's state falls all the way down the list to the seventh spot.

Yeah. That's what I thought. Hell, look at it this way, even with Gov. Blago's arrest last week, little old Deerfield Beach, pop. 80,000, whupped Illinois all by itself with two arrests at City Hall.

And something tells me -- let's call it intuition -- that our numbers are going to keep climbing.

3. Don't be trashing Mississippi.
Barbour, hell yeah, trash him. But Mississippi gave the world Elvis, Faulkner, Eudora Welty, Walter Payton, Brett Favre, Jerry Rice, Howlin' Wolf, BB King, Muddy Waters, Morgan Freeman, and a lot of pretty cool people. Yeah, it gave us some dickheads, too, but where would American culture be without Mississippi's writers, bluesers, and rockers? Hell, we might not even rock if not for the Delta and Muddy Waters.

And it gave the world Jobycom, too. The world is mostly unimpressed, but that's the world's problem. Just thought you should know. :)

5. I don't know. A lot of people don't think being anti-social, nerdy, or using porn are "shameful".
Drug use? Abortion? Binge Drinking? What gaggle of church ladies wrote this crap?

Honestly, I don't give a shit.

And if the worst thing they could come up with for Washington was that they had 4 beastiality cases in 2010... Okay, big fucking deal- so that's the worst in the country, but it's still only 4.

Just sort of a dumb chart.

20. Fair enough. But I think indicting WA state on the basis of 4 as opposed to, say, 3 somewhere else
is a bit unfair. Seems like kind of a stretch.

21. As for Washington, I wonder if they counted the case
where a guy on the west side rigged a harness to hold himself so a horse could abuse him? He died from from the 'thrill'! It was sex with an animal, so I guess it counts.

14. I have to admit I got a chuckle out of the fact that Utah has the highest rate of
online porn subscriptions. From the link:

Utah's No. 1 ranking doesn't surprise Freestone, who works with sex offenders at his Comprehensive Treatment Clinic. Freestone has done searches on Google Trends, typing in words ranging from "swimsuits" to "naked girls," and found that Utah ranked No. 1 or 2 in most searches. A similar exercise by Deseret News reporter Lee Davidson in 2007 found that Utahns were more prone to search for words like "topless" and "pornography" (as well as "Jesus" and "home storage").

Jesus ranks right up there with "home storage." Priceless.

Edited on Mon Jan-31-11 01:23 AM by yourout
anymore reason to drink.

I tried to hold out hope that Walker would at least pretend to be middle of the road but it has become obvious from the starting gun he is a far right loon leading a flock of far right loons.

For at least the next two years there will be nothing but misery coming from the Capitol.

22. So Maine is the "dumbest" state because the average SAT score
Edited on Mon Jan-31-11 09:12 AM by Art_from_Ark
is 1389? When I took the SAT, that was damn near perfect. Meanwhile, Ohioans are too smart because they go to the library so much

And Iowa has to hang its head in shame because 1.8% of its population is 85 or over? :wtf:

And my own state has the lowest average credit rating. BFD. If that's the worst that we're worst at, I can live with that.
