MSNBC ratings dip without Olbermann

How's MSNBC doing post-Olbermann? The early numbers are down.

Following the sudden departure of the mercurial host of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" one week ago tonight, "Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" moved into its place on the schedule. O'Donnell, a former U.S. Senate aide, "West Wing" producer and fill-in host on "Countdown," got his own MSNBC show late last year.

O'Donnell should have benefited from both Monday's show, when weekend media coverage — and the fact that the show was still listed as "Countdown" by most DVRs — drew a crowd to MSNBC. Tuesday's show led into the State of the Union address, which should've helped as well.

1. it's just not the same
I've watched it this week, but it's not the same.
I still appreciate everyone's analysis. But I just don't feel like I "have" to watch now.
I will still watch. Just not as much maybe.

They've screwed themselves. And as soon as Olbermann does whatever he's going to do next, I'll be watching that.

8. I just felt tired of being
pushed around by corporate America. The Comcast-NBC merger was way wrong anyway. I don't know about you but I signed several petitions and wrote letters to voice my objections to the merger. I would bet they got hundreds of thousands of such. But money trumps everything in this corporatocracy.

4. I still watch the news segments.....
.....but they lost me on political commentary. That cuts my viewership by an hour or so a day.

6. I only turned on MSNBC this week
because of the State of the Union Address and the crisis in Egypt. I went on the Internet to get most of my news otherwise.

7. I'm gone from there
After eight years of making dinner to Keith Olbermann's voice, I'm now hearing "Little House On The Prairie" in the background. But I'll probably go over to CNN for that hour. I do like Eliot Spitzer although he does pull punches.

9. I think that it has been established.
That Keith leaving was a mutual agreement. I will continue to watch MSNBC unless this has not proven true.
