How will lower corporate tax rates help?
Do corporations not make enough money now? Billions not enough?

I was stunned when Obama unveiled this as one of his big ideas in the SOTU speech. Isn't this a longstanding REPUBLICAN proposal that they have always pushed for?

Isn't trickle down economics debunked by now, damn. So disappointing to hear a DEMOCRATIC president say this.

6. Big corps take advantage of loopholes, Obama wants to close those
I think the current high corporate tax rate - higher than in almost any country - mainly affects relatively smaller businesses.

Obama's point is if you close the loopholes then lower the tax rate, you can do it without a revenue hit, and there is a lower barrier to companies operating legally in the US.

If a company can make a million dollars operating in Germany but only pay 25% in taxes (or whatever it is, I know it's lower than here), but here they can make that exact same million but pay 30% in taxes, where do you think they're going to operate? Where are the jobs going to be?
