Email from Organic Valley Farms regarding FDA decision on GMO's
GM Alfalfa: What's Happening Now by George L. Siemon, Organic Valley CEO I want to share with the organic and food community my experience and struggle to stop Roundup Ready® Alfalfa (RR-Alfalfa) from being released. This struggle began in 2005 when Monsanto first sought approval, and it is now coming to a head as USDA Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has promised to announce the release of the first perennial Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) by the end of January.

4. 1. The link doesn't work for me.
2. It's more than GMO alfalfa. This GMO alfalfa will be fed to cattle which will end up on dinner plates universally. It's bad enough that GMO corn is in the poultry and beef already, but the new alfalfa will be a double whammy in cattle.

7. Time to buy only grass fed organic meat and milk

Although I don't eat meat, I'm happy my friends buy meat from local humanely raised animals.

8. Organic Valley does not stand firm enough
According to the Organic Consumers Association, even the talk of coexistence with GMO's and industrial ag is a losing proposition for organics & sustainability:

I agree that the introduction of a perennial, wind-pollinated GMO crop such as alfalfa will have drastic negative consequences.
