2. None of the above,
Government is but a tool of the corporations these days. Corporations aren't interested in governing, they are, by their nature, only interested in maximizing their profits by any means they can.

We're pretty much out here on our own.

11. Exactly! This is the root cause of the financial problems in this country and the marriage
between government, corporations and the MIC. Gov. is often not about people anymore, but maximizing corp. profit. Hence, many people are dispensable.

5. Other, because "There's no fixing it" is not an option.
The proportion of the financial services sector to the entire economy is unsustainable (see 2008), and we will not face the need to demobilize the military.

6. Government can and must provide a stable, predictable economic environment.
Edited on Thu Jan-27-11 11:53 AM by slackmaster
Ultimately private employers of all sizes will get the economy moving again. More people are employed by small businesses than large ones or by government, and there is no reason to think things will be different in the near future.

Businesses need predictable taxes, interest rates, and regulations in order to be able to make plans and take risks.

8. Sometimes it's better to have brain-dead government do nothing than to try too hard to "fix" things
Edited on Thu Jan-27-11 11:56 AM by slackmaster
People need and want jobs, and they need and want stuff. Ultimately it's people creating and expanding businesses that lead to both jobs and stuff.

14. Can't vote again because of ad across links. But 'Other.'
An energized citizenry that monitors government efforts for evidence that such efforts have been captured by big business.

15. Other
Boondoggles will do nothing to fix a systemic collapse. This will not be reported or acknowledged, so you are on your own when it comes to realizing the state of things, who is directing them and where it will go.

16. Government is owned by
the ones that destroyed the economy. So government can't fix it.

Big business caused it and apparently has no interest in fixing it because their profits are way up.

The only possible fix is that things will get so bad the American people will finally wake up and rein in the abuses of the corporate government. There is little likelihood that this will happen because the corporate media controls the dialog.

19. I would trust you before anyone with the job currently, Sir Tuck!
So my answer was other. The problem with our economy is that it's been fixed. It is a nasty huge ass web of lies, that we can only hope to assess, which in and of itself doesn't constitute remedy. That I see in something of a Durden agenda.
