Harry Reid say McConnell can force a vote on repeal of the healthcare law...
WTF?? If this is true, did the Dems ever force a vote on anything when the Republicans were in the majority? If they did, what was the issue? Does anyone know??

Reid also said the Senate will hold a vote on the House-passed health care repeal if the top Republican, Sen. Mitch McConnell, demands one. Reid said he would not bring the repeal to a vote, but acknowledged that the Senate GOP could use procedural means to force one.

"I'm certainly not going to bring it up, but we have procedures in the Senate where if somebody, if they wanted to try to increase costs for seniors, if they wanted to take away the ability to have a pre-existing disability…" Reid said.

"So if Mitch McConnell presses the issue there will be a vote in the Senate on repealing health care reform?" Karl asked. "It sounds like he does…"

"Well that's what this is all about," Reid said. "The president indicated it very well last night – the health care bill that we passed is an effort to make sure that the millions of people who are uninsured have the same health insurance that I have. And it's also to make sure that people who are senior citizens can go to the doctor when they're sick, can have a wellness check that doesn't cost them anything, we fill that donut hole, we allow millions of small businesses to get a tax deduction for health insurance for their employees. That's what it's all about."

1. "I Double-Dog-Dare You!"
That's what's going on.

According to half of DU, Harry Reid is weak, stupid, and reactionary. Then, there's this.

The Republicans now have to prove that they're tough guys. They'll fold like a cheap birthday card.

5. Question is, how many "Dems" will vote to REPEAL?
I wouldn't bet a thin dime on Ben Nelson or Lieberman, for example.

9. There may well be enough "Dems" that will switch so the repeal will pass the Senate
However there won't be enough to override Obama's veto..

11. Wouldn't he want to meet them in the middle though? If such a repeal reached his desk
that would be the bipartisan resolution that he always talked about wanting. He didn't get one Senate Republican vote for the Shitty Private Insurance Is Now Mandatory Act of 2010.

13. No because they are not offering anything in place of it..It is just repeal
Obama will not allow repeal...He may entertain suggestions to make some changes, but that isn't what is on the table now..

30. I have zero arguments with anything you have posted, I just want to point out
NARRATIVE

That's what turns an idea into a statement into a debate into a policy.

The democrats spent 18 months and every manuever to get the bill passed and nobody likes it, even those who like it.

If the GOP can get repeal passed in both houses in less than 2 months we will have lost the narrative.

Sure, Obama can veto it and the veto will stand but then the house has the political narrative to defund it. They don't even have to claim to take money back, they can simply not include funding in upcoming budgets. A veto can't force them to type words on a page.

Despise the HCR law. My only opposition to what is going on in the OP is not wanting to see the RW emboldened and empowered.

and out finessing the Democrats in the Senate, even when they are the minority.

8. I have a concern
about the litany of waivers to the program. I, as a small business owner, don't have lobbyists at my disposal to get a waiver. Not that I would want one, but all the waivers seem a little suspect to me. Many someone can explain to me why so many big organizations and companies are getting waivers for thousands and thousands of employees but the little guy/gal trying to make it doesn't get the same opportunity.

14. Small businesses have been issued a tax credit to facilitate getting their health insurance
group plans together and offering it to their employees. Big corporations don't get that, and are saying it's "too hard" for them to comply right away so they need a waiver.

16. Where is this information
on tax credits for small business owners like myself? I honestly don't know whats in the bill, what is expected of me, and when it all starts to take place. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and I know this stuff is coming down the pike and I ought prepare.

28. the waiver's are temporary
What's happening is that the companies getting waiver's currently offer mini-meds, which offer very little coverage, but the employees would have no coverage if these policies were dropped now. In 2014 when the exchanges come into play as well as the subsidies and medicaid coverage for all of those making less than 130% of the poverty line, these companies will have to comply fully with the law.

18. I think people see the health care problems in America
first hand, but the more we see on this plan the more people realize its a boon to the insurance industry rather than a real single payer program to give everyone healthcare. Just my opinion.

31. Actually it's "cloture"
just sayin', not scoldin'

And if it is framed as a budget issue, as was the HCR bill when it was passed, they can invoke reconciliation which only requires 51 votes.

I thought that was how the Republicans kept the Democrats in the Senate from doing anything when Bush was president.

27. Where is IT ?????
Where is the on-line petition to repeal the Health-care for Congress??? Where is the on-line petition to make the reduce their salary by 25%?????? Where is it??? Why are we always the ones who are writing and e-mailing these no good people about don't touch something that we pay for in tax revenues. We should not have to tell them SHIT!!!!!! When they go after what it is we have, we should go after what THEY HAVE!!!!! Why are we trying to defend what we know is right!!!!

Lets start by petitioning to have their Health care removed. The average American makes about 58,000 dollars. The average Congressman makes about 180,000 dollars. Not to mention all the money in political war chest they can keep (Evan Bayh). They make enough money where they can purchase THEIR Health care across State lines if they want. There would be plenty support. They want to be fiscally sound, and want to make cuts to all programs and entitlements, then lets petition to work on their entitlements. The Tea Party member who was mad because his Health Care wasn't active until February will love this. We should not have to fight each other for what we need. We should ban together to make them fight for what they need!!!! Sen. Sherrod Brown does not accept the Health Care Plan. He purchases his own. I am sure this would wake up our Congress. And the President would be more than Happy to pay for his Health Coverage for him and his family. So no Exceptions.. He believes in Democracy at work. Don't they want to freeze and reduce Federal Employee's wages and workers???

And aren't the Governor's starting to try and fuck with State worker pensions and funds??? Why aren't you petitioning to get rid of the Governor's Pension?? Make cuts to their Health Care Plan??? How would nice Governor Christie feel bout dat???
