News wise - Who can we trust?
After what has happened at MSNBC, I'm wondering which news network I could ever trust to get the truth. I would love to find a network, or even an internet news site, that just tells the news without adding their opinion or slanting left or right.

But one thing is for sure, I will always vote a straight Democratic ticket. With all the lies and misinformation we get, I will have to put my faith in the Democratic platform and hope that we can keep enough Democrats in office so that the GOP and the teabaggers can't do as much harm as they would like to do.

Isn't it amazing that there are some on Faux News who are so far to the right that they disappear into insanity, and we can't have one Keith Olbermann who gives us the hard truth when we need to hear it?

2. I've preferred Rachel Maddow for a while, anyway ... because she interviews both sides.
Keith generally just had guests who presented the progressive point of view. I got a lot of GREAT info from him (and he always sourced his material well, unlike RW radio or Fox).

But I like that Rachel gives us the straight scoop, but brings on opposing viewpoints to give us a fuller discussion of the issues.

So, I'm still going to look to Rachel ... her, I trust.

3. BBC.
I worked in Norway this year for a bit and was shocked when I watched the BBC. I learned more in a 1 hour broadcast from them then I could in a week from MSNBC FOX or CNN... And I mean NEWS not crap. I think their web page is www.bbc.co.uk

4. There is no single source...

Look for multiple sources in a story.

WAtch locally for shady stuff being done, and report it on boards like this one.

It may be that we have to create a more undergound news system.

5. I wake up every morning to Amy Goodman.
The community radio station (KSFR in Santa Fe, NM) also has BBC before and after her. Now that Keith will be gone, I'll watch Rachel instead. I didn't often watch her because there was so much overlap between Keith and Rachel, and I'm not willing to give up an entire two hours each evening to TV.

I also listen to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on NPR, and I can answer almost every single question that comes up. The only thing that usually stumps me is the segment where they present three different news stories, and the person on the line has to figure out which one is true. They generally find something sufficiently obscure that I haven't heard about it, and then the two fake ones are so clever that I'm usually bamboozled by one of them.
