Night Sky Guide, January to March 2014
http://www.astronomytoday.com/skyguide.html

Among the interesting things in this essay: winter stars are among the brightest.

Nice to know!

I have to use my imagination because stars are not visible in Boston. In fact, I have seen starry skies very few times in my lifetime.

1. The stars are visible here.
Especially if we get away from "town". I few years back (decades?) we drove out to a place were we made merry to look through a friend's smallish telescope. I was surprised to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. We had beer too.

I like that site. On our Summer evenings on the front porch my wife often asks me, "What is that star? Is it a planet?" I say, "I feel certain it is a planet, maybe Venus or Mars, but I'm not sure. I should check the internet." So from now on I will consult that website so I will have an answer.
