In the last couple of days (as of Nov 12, 2013) the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has taken a very sudden jump upwards,

The arctic ice sheet that is supposed to be growing right now, has suddenly stopped growing.

1. This cannot end well.

Yet amazingly, the greed heads are still clamoring for more drilling sites in environmentally sensitive areas.

3. Very little I know of has ended well, a notable exception in my life being my pregnancy,

which ended with the birth of my son (only slightly premature).

That's why I never buy tickets to anything but comedies.

I figure I can get more than enough grief for free, whether I need it or not. If I ever feel a grief deficienty, I can always watch the news.

2. You've told us that the environmental situation is already hopeless.

If that is so, what is the point of a post like this?

Can't you at least let us enjoy the final years of humankind?
