Pete Seeger shall not be moved.
Edited on Wed Oct-09-13 02:28 PM by No Elephants
As you know, Pete Seeger lost his beloved wife this summer, eleven days before their seventieth wedding anniversary.

Today, I wondered how he was doing, given that even people who are not in their 90s tend to die within a relatively short time after death of a spouse.

And Seeger once wrote of his wife, “Thanks to my wife Toshi, without whom the world would not turn nor the sun shine.”

(I was heard someone read a poem about the death of an identical twin that ended, "I don't know how to live, now that we have died.")

I found an interview that Seeger did with Democracy Now! only a month after his wife died. The interview was reassuring in that he was able to be present so soon after being widowed, but also a little disconcerting.

But then, I found this, from September 22, 2013 and I felt very good about Pete Seeger.

The man is 94. He has done an enormous amount of work. He knows, though, that he still has has a lot of work to do; and, rather than being sad about that, he is doing it.

Just like a tree that is standing by the water, he shall not be moved.

1. Love this, No Elephants.
I understand this love for his Toshi. 94! Unbelievable! Of course Neil Young is also one of my very favorites.

I couldn't get the Youtube video. Someone removed it I guess.

Thanks.

2. Huh. I got by going to youtube and typing in We Shall Not Be Moved.
Did not even know Seeger had done the song, but his name popped up.

Did it again today and got to the same video.
