Moving the US Military Out of Korea would NOT save the US anything
The Hankyoreh (a Korean newspaper) has learned that the US military is hoarding over 660 million dollars that the South Korean government has paid to the US over the last ten years or so. The Korean government covers over half of the cost of the US Military being in Korea. When the Korean Ministry of Defense and several news publications inquired as to what the money is being used for (since holding on to it is a violation of the treaty) the US military refused to say. The Korean government is carrying the brunt of the cost to move the US garrison from Seoul to Pyeongtaek, which part of a separate agreement.
I would be curious as to whether the Defense Department is doing this in Japan and had been doing it in Europe. I can't believe the don't/didn't. Which begs the questions "How much money are they hoarding and What is the real cost of the military?"
The entire wealth of the Earth would be my best guess. See, they have it figured out in its entirety. Most of the known natural resources are already spoken for, so to speak. "we" don't count for much.
There's no accountability and all the Dept of Defense has to do is cry about being left underfunded and America vulnerable and they get more w/o any oversight
