Politician ousted from Irish Government after voting against suicide abortion bill clause
Minister for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton, has lost her position in Irish Government for voting against the suicide clause in the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill.

The new legislation meets the requirements of the 1992 “X Case” Supreme Court judgment, which stated an abortion should be allowed if there was a threat to the mother's life, including suicide.

The Irish Independent reports that Creighton “faces an uncertain future in the political wilderness” as she joins four other Fine Gael members of parliament who rebelled against the government political party. The other four include Billy Timmins, Terence Flanagan, Brian Walsh and Peter Mathews who went against the Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny despite his having enforced this punishment.

Following her decision she told the RTE news, “It's very disappointing and I would rather that I wasn't here. For me, this is a very important piece of legislation, one which is against a commitment that we made at the last election - a promise had been made, a very fundamental promise - on abortion.

1. Wonder if I could immigrate to Ireland.
I am growing weary of the US with the plague of ignorance, corporate owned government and strictly controlled media.

2. Why do some people still think iit's okay for women to die?

Just not, you know, their own wives and daughters.

Women and people of color. For as long as there have been white people, woman and people of color have been worth less than.

Doesn't stop some white women from treating people of color as "less than" nor does it stop men of color from treating white women or women of color as "less than."

Doesn't even stop men and women of color from looking down on other men and women of color.

Doesn't stop women from looking down on other women, or at least assuming that men are more competent.

Somewhere in the distant past of our species, all that must have served some vital purpose. But, now that it does no good at all, and does do a lot of harm, we still seem to be stuck with it.

I hope the species finds a way to ditch all that stuff some day, but I don't expect it in my lifetime.
