Open letter to Paula Deen, on her nauseating behavior with Mark Lauer
Edited on Thu Jun-27-13 08:53 AM by No Elephants
Me, Paula, me.

Yes, I have said things in my life that I wish I could take back. Maybe I spoke too harshly to my mom or my son or another loved one. Maybe I embarrassed someone I never intended to embarrass. I wish I could back that kind of thing.

Have my posts about politicians and judges been harsh sometimes? you bet. But they are public figures and much more powerful than I, not my employees.

But, did I ever once call anyone a slur based upon color, gender, religion, race or ethnic origin? No.

No, though you sure tempt me. Then again, you are a public figure, too.

Do I want to throw a rock at your head and kill you? No. What a bizarre behavior to impute to someone who, by the terms you yourself set, never once said a single word in their lives that he or she would like to take back. What a bizarre behavior to impute to anyone in fact. I would love it if you shut up, though. You may want to think about it anyway, because you don't seem to get that, when you find yourself in a hole (or a canyon, in your case), you should stop digging.

BTW, you ain't Jesus defending the adulterous woman, either. That pious "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" deal doesn't work near as well when you try to use it to defend yourself. (Give me a break!)

Do I think you sincerely would like to take back what you said? Yes, because you damaged your brand's ability to keep raking in the money, not because it hurt your employee, whom you continue to demean, now on national television.

As far as being a product of your times, bullshit. Everyone has known since the days of slavery that you find so very romantic that the n word was intended to be hurtful, was in fact created to be hurtful. So, unless you are several hundred years old, that excuse won't wash.

And how did you have the brass to say that you only used the n word once and also say that your statement in your deposition about having used it a number of times was true, too? (Not to mention your saying "Of course," when asked if you ever used the n word, as though all of us use it all the time.) Wait until the lawyer uses that tape to attack your credibility on the stand. You may really cry then.

Did I buy your TV reality show type sobs? Not for a second.

I did not see a single tear smear your mascara, take off one of your false eyelashes, give you those mascara marks under your eyes, or run its way through your excessive face make up. I saw no involuntary body movements. Your nose did not run, either. Those things (sans excessive stage makeup) happen when real people really cry. So, you were right about one thing. You're no actress, just an unrepentant racial slur hurler, nostalgic for the days of slavery, fake crying, as toddlers so often do, and telling us, like a defiant spoiled two-year old, that you "ain't changing, either."

I did have sympathy for you before the show you put on with Lauer. Now, I hope the person who sued you takes you for all you've got.

2. Now that I re-read it, it seems harsh. But, I was angry when I wrote it!

3. I thought to myself...
"UGH!"

That whole, reverse-blame, "pick up that rock and throw it so hard at my head" thing, seriously - I can't describe to you the nausea that those choice of words, and the highly emotional manner in which they were spewed out made me feel. The whole display was -

4. Jan Crouch!
Have you been reading about their family infighting? WWJD, indeed.

(((DD)))).

Yeah, Jan's great at weeping without ever dislodging a false lash, too. Maybe it's a Southern belle skill.
