It has to do with making it illegal to discard embryos. (Octomom is octomom because so many "took" and she would not eliminate any of them. Most women cannot carry eight babies to term and the additional ones reduce the chances that the mother or the others will survive. So, discarding early on is part and parcel of in vitro.)

Okay, seriously, how bloodless and ambitious do you have to be to pick a running mate whose policies would have eliminated the possibiliy of some of your grandbabies, or at least criminializing the process that allowed them to be born?

Sidelight: I cannot help but wonder why at least three of Romney's five sons sought in vitro?

Catholics, of course, do not believe--officially--in interfering in any way with what they see as God's reproductive plan for an individual's life. I guess they reject the idea that God was responsible for the lives of the people who invented both birth control and in vitro.

Not sure why interfering with God's plan for your death is different? IOW, not sure why is taking the birth control pill or using a condom a sin, but accepting penicillin, surgery, etc. are not sins? Both seem to be interfering with God's plan, aka no human intervention.
