David Brock's Statement On Keith Olbermann's Final Countdown Broadcast
http://mediamatters.org/blog/201101210045

Media Matters for America founder and CEO David Brock released the following statement regarding the final broadcast of Countdown with Keith Olbermann:

For nearly eight years, Countdown with Keith Olbermann led the charge against conservative misinformation in prime time. He was one of the few voices in the media willing to hold the Bush administration accountable and fight the right-wing smears against progressives and their policies.

Keith is an innovator and an extremely talented broadcaster who showed there was a market for progressive views on cable news. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him soon, and I eagerly await hearing of his next move. And on this evening, I wish him "good night and good luck."

17. Once "Net neutrality" is in the past, progressives will be impeded there too
If Comcast doesn't want you to hear Keith on MSRNC, why would they let Comcast internet subscribers hear him?

9. Keith Olbermann
I will not even watch the Weather Channel (an NBC station). Keith was the ONLY reason I watched MSNBC.

10. Nice statement by Brock.
Still have to buy and read his book 'The Rightwing Noise Machine'. I can't believe I haven't read it yet.

12. I've just now been able to comment.
I'm in shock and am in near-tears whilst looking at my KO bobblehead - which sits on my desk.

Hubby and I were just talking about how MSNBC's ratings will circle the drain, now. Thankfully, we don't have Comcast, but it would be nice to call them up and tell them I'm canceling their monopoly.

18. Keith Olbermann vs Comcast/NBC Universal
Mr Olbermann is a sports caster, journalist, TV host and pioneer who was never fully appreciated by his corporate handlers. He single-handedly saved MSNBC and finally gave "the Left" an alternative to FOX. For that he is dismissed unceremoniously.

Most if us figure he was sacrificed to placate the head of Comcast who we all know is a Republican dark over lord. What a great way to start the Comcast take over and yes we get the message Comcast. We have not yet decided what we will do but for starters don't look for us on the SOTU speech night. PBS and some CNN will do just fine.

We watched Keith Olbermann since he started his show on MSNBC. An eloquent, articulate and intelligent voice in the wilderness. And his honest passion is like no other on TV. Ed's a great cheerleader but Keith was the whole package.
His special comments thrilled and brought tears and will be remembered unlike the names of the inane suits at MSNBC.

We strongly recommend that Dylan Ratigan be given an encore showing as he is terrific and we really don't need 3 Chris Matthews showings per day. Most folks don't catch Dylan due to the early hour/lunch time show. He's much better than Tweety or Ed and compliments the other shows while being different.

Rachel of course is now the flag ship although we have cautioned her to pay off her new condo as I don't believe Comcast when they say they'll keep their hands off of the progressive shows. We trust Lawrence to not take any crap from you guys.

Not a great first impression for MSNBC/Comcast but no one thought it would be.

19. Ratigan is a libertarian
if you are hoping he'll make up for Keith you are going to be disappointed.
