Josh Marshall @ TPM: What The Hell Was That About?
What The Hell Was That About?

I was just on in the opening segment of Olbermann tonight. And I get home and get this press release from NBC saying this was the last episode of Countdown. (...) But I was a bit more stunned than I might otherwise have been because I was just over there. And I did not have any sense that there was anything any different than normal going on. Everything seemed calm and pretty sedate. There were a few more people than I'm used to seeing in the studio -- maybe two or three who seemed to be there to watch. But nothing that made me think twice that anything odd was going on.

I'm sure we'll be hearing soon enough what on earth happened here. But color me stunned. And really disappointed.

3. Josh, that's the way it's been done for thirty years or more.
You do your show, some management lackey comes in and says "this was your last show." Very rarely do you get to tell the audience that it's your last show.

5. I can imagine you are shocked. You certainly aren't alone.
I found it interesting that Keith's reading of Thurber was about a skunk and porcupine. I wonder if he chose that at the last minute?

Now, what am I going to do? Dang!

6. These NBC guys make me sick --- three times now
I liked Dan Abrams.
GONE.

I liked David Schuster.
GONE.

Keith Olbermann???
What is wrong with them.

I loved Conan too.

Do they have any idea what their viewers want?
