3. I don't for my TV, but who is to say they aren't
going to buy out my provider, eventually, just like AT & T have bought out most of the telephone companies.

4. No options. No FiOS. no Qwest, no Time Warner, no Sattelite.
These bastards are the only option here.

God, I am pissed.

13. Internet or cable. Sattelite not allowed, no other providers.
Trust me, I check every 6 months. I work next to the Verizon building and ask their people all the time. Last fall, was told no plans for FiOS for the 5 year plan.

17. We were lucky to get in on the early FiOS roll-outs.
I got so f'in fed up with Comcast I went DirecTV and paid $400/month for a T1 so I could have a reliable network connection.

I hate Comcast. They sucked bad before this. I don't think there's even a word to describe the vile depths of their suckage now.

30. Anyone who's moving now, DEMAND satellite TV access or don't sign a contract!
Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 12:20 AM by cascadiance
And make a point that you are committed to not doing business with Comcast. Perhaps if enough landlords hear that as a reason that people aren't renting their places (unless they are hardcore Republicans that just want Republicans to rent from them), they'll change their tune about their "rules".

I got fed up with cable many years ago with some of their earlier monopoly practices with me and have long since moved to satellite, and demand this access when I move.

28. Most places have DSL as an option through your phone company...
You might not have the same download speed as cable, but your upload speed is probably better.

36. I have Quest too and use DSL, it sounds like a wiring problem...
Edited on Sat Jan-22-11 12:59 PM by cascadiance
... where DSL hasn't been added to your trunk lines in that area. Hmm... I thought most areas would have been added by now.

I have been problems with internet access hanging at times that I'm still trying to isolate as being a problem with my newer Mac itself (a bad networking chip), or Quest's DSL. Hoping its not the latter which might make it more problematic, especially if I don't want to have to use Comcast in my area either.

6. I just mentioned that
to my husband. Good-bye Comcast, hello At&t U-verse. I'll make sure to tell them exactly why I'm canceling. My DH has been bugging me to do this for months. He's going to get his wish.

18. Nothing Will Change
in broadcasting, once you've been let go, there's no going back to the same place, unless....another merger.

I know this from the time I worked in radio - it's a ruthless business and many lose jobs when these damn mergers happen.

23. I will never sign up for Comcast or pay money for anything with which they are involved
...if I know they are involved. they sent me a letter telling me they were going to send collection agents to come to my house to pick up equipment I NEVER SAW for an account I NEVER HAD. I had no idea they had been ruining my credit because I didn't have an account with them to know they were messing up my life - until they sent a threatening letter.

I told their representative that I so despised them I would NEVER have any account with them - and I will not. ever. I have no cable now - tho I could have it through another provider - but if the choice were no cable or comcast - I would forgo cable forever.

I hate Comcast with a white hot hate.

31. Do some research on the alternatives before you jump.
I am unfamiliar with DISH. But all the alternatives are big republican candidate and republican party contributors. Several of Comcast's higher ups are either democrats or sensitive to democratic causes. So essentially a boycott will end up most likely hurting the very causes that DU members claim they support.

33. I only have comcast internet, well....sort of, but they aren't getting one red cent from me.
I capture the wireless signal being broadcast from my neigbor's wifi connection, that I set up for him and his son, who also uses it for his Xbox, with his permission, and in exchange for cleaning and delousing his computer's OS once a week, since he likes to watch lots of porn online.
