Harry Reid announces vote on DADT repeal for Saturday
Edited on Thu Dec-16-10 08:41 PM by terrya
Here we go, folks.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has filed cloture on 'DADT' repeal and the DREAM act, with a vote planned for Saturday. Reid has apparently filled the tree, which prevents any amendments to the measures.

10. Another post here said that the DREAM act will be first Saturday, then DADT repeal.
Damn...this is actually possible.

9. Please let me watch bigotry enshrined into law be repealed?
Edited on Thu Dec-16-10 08:56 PM by msanthrope
Please let me watch one of the most disgusting 'findings' ever in law be repudiated.

Please let me watch my Constitution be the living, breathing document it was meant to be.

Please let me watch equality happen.

Please let me do the happy dance with all the posters I so virulently disagreed with about process.

Please let every court case become moot.

Please, Harry Reid, Joe Lieberman, Joe Biden, Barack Obama.....(not forgetting Pelosi, Hoyer, Murphy....)

Please.

12. We have a great Senate majority leader
He has earned my respect. No, he's not perfect, but he's significanty better than Tom Daschle was.

14. This is great news.
Assuming the GOP doesn't find yet another excuse (and they are experts at it), it looks as if everything is set to go.

Now if it were this simple--just have a nice neat standalone bill--why on earth didn't we do this a long time ago?

18. They probably wanted to wait until after they sold out on
the Bush tax cuts. This was always simple and should have been done long ago, but doing it after the betrayal on the tax cuts, they probably think will help them get back some of their lost base.

16. Now this should be interesting.
Makes me think that Reid, Collins and Lieberman had something worked out before he put the NDAA with the DADT amendment up for a vote last Thursday. Reid, in fact, practically admitted it toward the end of his speech.

17. I think that's very plausible.
Yes. I agree with you.
