Would Republican voters actually nominate a total lunatic for the presidency?
Gingrich, Perry, Cain and other questionably sane people are being considered somewhat “serious” contenders for the presidency.

How sick can it get? IMO, Republican primary voters might possibly back a child molester as long as their candidate went along with most of their basic, mindless goals.

Many in today’s Democratic Party suck and have sold us out. But most are not insane.

The Republican Party on the other hand, has gone over a cliff and hit bottom. They consist of those who are corporate whores, or clueless, or thrive on hatred, or are just plain nuts.

Given that they have control of congressional redistricting in many states, and that their corporate allies own the voting machines, how do we fight back?

We are in the midst of a current “Dark Age.” A renaissance will eventually come about, but I doubt that any of us will be around to see it.

So that’s my opinion of where we are today. What’s yours?

4. Reagan and GHW Bush sounded sane.
Reactionary, but sane. The current crew of lunatics makes them look competent.

23. And Bush Jr. simply sounded like a moron with the IQ of a potato.
But the answer is still yes: they absolutely would nominate an outright fucking lunatic. Hell, they started out last summer trying to annoint Michele Fucking Bachmann before she self-destructed.

3. If you think the Republicans have hit bottom you're sadly mistaken..

Wingnut Event Horizon – An event that is always happening, yet never ever happens. Occasionally, a wingnut will say/write/blog/publish/fart something so ridiculous, so closed-minded, so full of hate and scorn, yet free from thought and consideration, that anyone hearing it will be forced to conclude that said wingnut will never again be taken seriously/linked to/have a Time article written about him. However, in a sick twisted perversion of the actual event horizon, no matter how far you walk from the Wingnut Event Horizon, they’re never any further away.

11. I think your laughter is directed at the Republican candidates
Edited on Tue Nov-29-11 06:43 PM by Cyrano
However, given that Reagn and Bush Jr. actually ended up running this country, it's no laughing matter.

The idea that any of these Republican candidates could actually end up in the Oval Office scares the crap out of me. And it should scare anyone who actually thinks -- foreign or domestic.

30. I don't thinkeither Reagan or Bush had much to do with running the country.
They were figureheads for dark forces hiding behind the throne. The power went from Poppy to Darth Cheney, with a minor detour in the Clinton years.

I really believe that many Republicans lack the ability to reason.

However, I think that Palin is too over the top for all but those who are beyond mental repair.

12. Republicans are reacting like a cornered wild animal.
They know the overall national trends are against them... minorities are against them, youth are against them, education is against them, science is against them, and worst of all its just not cool to be a conservative. They know their days are numbered and their only hope is oppose everything Obama and everything Democratic and embrace the most extreme RW ideology to retain and inspire their base and try to use old tried and true Republican tactics such as being pro-business, pro-military, pro-security, pro-religion, anti-tax, anti-gay, anti-union, anti-liberal. And they also know that probably will not be enough to win so they are also trying to cheat by restricting voting rights to Democratic voters. They have turned into an ugly sneering growling vicious wild animal that could be dangerous until put out its misery.

Democrats are usually confused with liberals and progressives but I just vote for them because they tend to be sane, intelligent, and competent.

"No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

Actually, I lost $100 bucks betting that Bush Jr. would lose in 2000. Yeah, I know that Gore won, but the Supreme Court cheated me out of that money. And also screwed America.
