Can we please forget about freerepublic?

Seriously, DU. There's no great honour in being "Not Freerepublic" (TM). It's a dumb old rock of a site and the tiny (in comparison with DU) number of people posting there are too ludicrous to be angry with.

I know this is probably going to fall on deaf ears but I thought I'd at least give it a try. Freerepublic's a toilet. Poking fun at them makes us all look cheap.

1. I forgot about it in 2006.
Some people never forget, though.

2. Free republic is funny in a tragic way

There is a second site, even smaller, that qualifies as a hate site.

FR has a few lose screws (the shooter at the holocaust museum for example) but that other site is full of lose screws.

Just saying. Monitoring is not a bad idea, and at least FR has it's moments of dark Comedy.

5. It's the main theme of US politics lately....

Create a way-far-right boogieman, promote it as the "Real Threat", then offer right-of-center policies as the compromise.

7. There's a hide thread feature if you don't want to see those threads..
I personally do go over there when I'm extremely bored, and do find them highly entertaining at times. There pro herb threads are particularly amusing. That reminds me...I must go over there to see how they're taking the lastest herb news.

13. They and like minds are the ideological base of the TeaPubliKlan party
they aren't attacked as a peer but as a heart soul of the enemy and that is fair considering the enemy is deadly.

Every fuckwit on there represents many thousands of fuckwits of little better quality (if any or not actually worse).
They are a little extra rough but when one is honest, you can't say they are THAT far out of the mainstream of a party whose majority wants to nominate Perry, Cain, Gingrich or some nuttier soul than that. I don't think much of Romney or Huntsman either but together those that can or want to play someone sane on TV don't even gather a third of support.

TeaPubliKlan Broadway and Main is fucking Newt and Cain. McShame was to the left of the mainstream (yup, Reaganite, war-motherfucking-mongering McShame, I don't know exactly how many houses I have McShame) and barely tolerated bolstered by his war record, longevity, and craven lack of scruples that allowed him to not vote for his own bill and such nonsense.
Broadway might be pushing it since Cain is a figment and Newt is probably a bit too "librah" as well with his personal life, connection to similar health care proposals, and random moments of sanity.

The money changers may finagle Romney in the end and the rank and file will be good little Germans because of their weird, often racist, visceral hatred of Obama but it will create another round of going more reactionary if/when they lose.

15. It's pretty much sunk into oblivion. Years ago they would receive frequent mention on talk radio,
but as RimJob and crew have steadily drifted further into nut land I don't think any RW media personality would dare taint themselves anymore. RJ's continual bannings have served to purify their gene pool to the point that the last vestiges of intelligence are long gone.

18. I read both sites, although this past year
I spent most of my time on DU now.

FR is funny yet tragic.

I'm so tempted to troll it,
like being a super-fanatical Cain supporter
to the point of satire but then I realized
I'd look like exactly like the real supporters.

19. freepublic has been mocked at DU since I landed here in 2001
I get tired of it at times myself and just don't click on the threads for a while. It is not a big deal for me.

Probably not a good idea to start requesting what people post or don't post even in a polite way as you did. I have seen a few other posters try it and it never seemed to end well.

I have never considered trying to censor someone to be a liberal ideal.

20. Let's forget about FreeRepublic . . .
. . . and FoxNews and Rush Windbag and the Coultergeist and . . .

I guess we can make exception for the GOP's nine ninnies, until one by one they drop out of the presidential race.

24. I go there occasionally for the entertainment value, but there is a serious purpose to be served.
In 2008, my FR account sided with those Freepers who denounced McCain as a left-wing RINO. No true conservative could vote for the likes of him. Everyone should stay home or vote third party or write in Ronald Reagan or whatever, to teach the RINO establishment that it can't take us conservatives for granted.

Hat tip to the Naderites at DU, some of whose silly phony-progressive arguments I repackaged into silly phony-troglodyte arguments. (You just reflect the image around a central vertical axis, interchanging right and left.)

This year, if Romney is the nominee, there'll be further such opportunities.

It's not like poking fun at a leper colony because leprosy is a condition, not a choice.
