Chiquita moving headquarters to Charlotte ($1 million in county incentives, $2 mil from state)
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Chiquita Banana is moving its corporate headquarters from Cincinnati to Charlotte, according to sources close to the situation.

The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a press conference for 4 p.m. Gov. Bev Perdue will be in attendance.

Charlotte City Council approved a $1 million in relocation incentives to Chiquita Brands International in early September.

Under the deal, Mecklenburg County will give $1 million, and the state would pay $2 million.

1. But Gov. Kasich has been so good at keeping jobs in Ohio!

Why, he was able to subsidize Diebold's move from Canton to Westlake, so they wouldn't leave the state.

2. Why do the tax payers have to pay a corporation, now considered a person, a damn thing.
If I relocate and take my skills to another state the state doesn't give me incentive money or tax breaks.

3. corprations AND governments want to increase revenue
The county and state believe they will make more money than this costs so they are willing to do it. If you could bring 1000's of jobs to a state, the state would pay you (you may need to become a corporate "legal entity" - which is not a person but has the the same rights).
