How many here actually own horses?

4. I work with a woman who is a clothes horse

I've worked with her for a couple of years and still haven't seen her wear the same clothes twice. And every outfit is accessorized to the hilt. Earings, rings, watches, scarves, necklaces, broaches, shoes, and belts.

I have since I was a kid...the same line.

Right now there are 3 left; the senior mare and her two daughters. Plus another horse belonging to my mother, who spends half the year here. So sometimes there are 3, sometimes 4.

They don't have anything to do with slaughterhouses; they aren't food. They are working partners, and they are family.

Animals that I have a relationship with don't go to slaughterhouses. Is that what you do with your horses?

I am not for the new slaughterhouse regs, as are most in our small community. My area is full of small ranches that raise their own meat, plus a little extra; not enough for industrial slaughterhouses to deal with.

I am for small family farms and ranches, and small local slaughtering services.

6. Horses are my favorite animal and I'd give anything to have one.

But I likely never will. Can't afford to rent or buy a farm, or even a rural house with plenty of land. I just wish I had a friend with horses so I could go gaze wistfully at THEIR horses, lol.

I wish I cou;d afford them now. But back when I had my horse, things were a lot cheaper, such as feed, blacksmiths and vets.

YES I am also for the slaughter bill.
As it is now horses are trucked to Mexico or Canada. Trucking them alone is bad enough but horse slaughter bill in Mex
ico is probable a nightmare.
