3. It gives a whole new meaning to the renewable cycle doesn't it?
the vicious circle. Some people think it's a cycle where the next turn is on a higher level just because we drill in more places.

But in reality it's the Goose. They're killing the Goose.

5. Look at the bright side.
When the oil runs out, our foreign wars will stop, for no other reason than we can't get there any more.

Then after the die-off from starvation, we can start allover with sharpened sticks and rocks.

8. Not so sure.
How much oil does it take to launch those drones out of Virginia and Nevada?

7. From what I have been reading....
DoD is actually one of the biggest pursuers of alternative energy sources. Unlike the repugs in Congress, they apparently have seen the writing on the wall, and are actually making serious attempts to move away from oil and into solar power and biofuels. Here's a great article from TPM regarding the issue:

It's says something about this country that it takes the Pentagon to lead the way out of our dependence on fossil fuels, and not a very good thing, IMO. But, if that's what it takes, then I'm not going to complain.

9. GoCubsGo, another possible reason for their pursuit of alternative energy sources
is that they want to be able to sustain the military presence if/when the rest of the electrical grid gets shut down due to sabotage, mechanical failure, intentional reduction of electricity production to quell an uprising(s), add your own reason.

A local alternative energy company is thriving due to its work with DOD. Too bad the rest of our nation doesn't get to take advantage of taxpayer-sponsored energy efficiency programs.
