I've been saying for the last two years that Newt will be the 2012 Republican Candidate for President. Not one person out of a hundred has agreed with me. Today the Manchester Union Leader agrees with me, they have endorsed him.

Republicans are easier to understand, and train, than dogs. You can always tell what they are going to do next.

If reason had much to do with it the Republicans would land on Huntsman, Romney, or Newt if they were picking from their own crop of wannabees. And all three of them are reasonable choices in one sense or another. One's got brains, one's got money, and one's got deep Government experience. But reason has little to do with it. If the Republican's are consistent about anything it is this, they give their nominations to the guy's who's turn it is. Newt has been in line for decades, now its his turn. He is perfectly willing to take up the cause of the person who is in front of his face at the moment and change it the next - and that will always get you votes. He can raise all the money he needs.

This is no ordinary bunch of candidates. These are all candidates the GOP itself hates. And they keep stumbling and falling flat on their faces. The rug marks and skid marks on their faces are glaring.

But I don't think we have much to fear. The great majority of Americans will not vote for someone who sneeringly tells them they need to take a bath and get a job. This dismal group of candidates will never offer up a President that will represent the entire country. They aren't even trying.

No matter what anyone thinks of Obama no one can say he isn't trying to represent the vast majority of people, if not ideologies. Bush only represented the monied and the Neo Cons. These candidates represent mostly the idiocrats who are backed by the 1%. And the idiocrats are wielding cattle prods which they love to use.

They are also batshit crazy, and have always been so. They aren't the be-all or the end-all, by a long shot. They no longer represent most NH Republicans.

Newt has to get past the image of his "First Lady" Calista--who is way too young for him, AND his THIRD wife--blowing him under the Speaker's desk in the minds of the voting public. Marianne (Number 2) is still alive and living in FL. She didn't sign any nondisclosure agreements, and she's chatty at times.

Newt is using this little shindig to increase his profile, so he'll get more gigs on TV, either as a pay-per-pundit or a regular schtick with a regular paycheck. He wants to sell his books, be the smartass know-it-all who sees things better than his peers, and who will play the "I toldjaso" game any time anything goes amiss.

If Romney steps on it totally, my pick is Huntsman.

But who knows, really? No one's flung any real dirt...YET. Wait till that shit starts!

There is an old cliché about how Republicans pick their Presidential Candidates; they take the guy who's next in line. How else can anyone explain John McCain's candidacy? "It was his turn", that's the answer.

And who else they got? Mitt is out there and would make a fine candidate, but he's a mouse that is easily pushed around on stage and that alone would kill him with the american viewing public. Of course he's got a more fundamental problem. The fundamentalist Christian's will never accept him as one of their own. Newt cannot win a general election. He has more baggage than a jumbo jet and more flip flops than a surf shop. Besides, he doesn't want it. He wants to keep whoring it up and selling his crappy books. He doesn't even campaign, fer chrissake! He just shows up to the weekly debates, says something vile to keep his name in the news cycle, then goes out to pound back a few whiskies and bang a D.C. call girl. Being president is actual hard work, and that is the last thing Newt wants.

The Useless Leader, as it is affectionately known in New Hampshire, is just one small-city newspaper. In the end, Romney will get the nomination because he was in line to get the nomination. The base Republicans hate him, but no one else in the current group of GOP candidates can beat Obama anyway, so the powers brokers will just let Romney have it. He's rich as shit and he'll just keep spreading the wealth and run again in 2016 anyway. And that's the prize the GOP really wants, not the Titanic that is currently sailing full speed ahead into an iceberg of global calamity.
