I think I joined in 2009...

And I'm here more than I'm there, normally.

:hi:

26. oh, it's all connected
the faked moon landing at Area 51, how the US stole the a-bomb from Germany, how the Mayans invented television.

ALL connected.

22. I finally went to TWITTER because of Michael Moore ---
Those you mentioned are also of high interest to me but usually catch them elsehwere --

Thanks for the info!

Are these generally blogs -- or just brief comments they're writing -- or both?

5. Both are a complete waste of time for serious political discussion
Twitter may be useful for flash mobs, and facebook is0 a homepage for a lot of people, but neither will ever replace political boards like du.

9. Absolutely. I don't use for serious depth - really more breaking news, and some links to more
substantive info. Also immediate reactions (which of course often need to be taken with a grain of salt)

18. Twitter is the best for breaking news.
If you read the right people, you can sometimes get the news before the outlets do. Twitter also doesn't filter the way google does, based on your profile. If you ask it for X, it will give that to you in search results. Or, it does right now anyway.

14. used to do facebook, and also twitter
Edited on Sun Nov-27-11 02:19 AM by shanti
but post on neither due to privacy issues. i totally canceled fb, and never post on twitter (under a pseudonym). the only reason to be a member of either one is to follow family members, nothing else, imo.

25. Can see the "privacy" issues with facebook -- but isn't everything including DU now
being picked up ???

Can also see the "family" stuff being a problem to make available to everyone on

Facebook --

but twitter seems a bit different?

but I do now and then. I don't tweet. Mostly I read Facebook to keep up with my family in the Lower 48.

19. don't Tweet myself, just read others
for breaking news. Twitter usually beats CNN and wire services on breaking news by HOURS, it's amazing. Of course you have to use discretion, know who is credible, etc.
I NEVER do Facebook, except once I had to for latest strike updates from my union. After that, deleted account and never returned, and never will. <shudder> Hated it.

20. I've never twittered. But then, I strongly discourage anyone sending me a text,
and the only texts I send are photos.

FB...I'm there in a small way, mainly to keep up with my son, friends and acquaintances who don't live in my area, that I don't get to see often. I follow a few political groups there, but most of my few posts are personal.

21. Post on both but prefer Twitter
Facebook tends to be family and my circle of acquaintances who generally don't have my interests in left/progressive politics. On Twitter I have cultivated a large number of like-minded people to interact with.

I tweet as kittiegrl on Twitter.

28. I am on FB
but don't post very much. Since I work in politics, a lot of my friends on there are various VIPs in the political scene.

I don't want to post something that is going to bite me down the road.
