Tea party unpopularity at an all-time high
Tea party unpopularity at an all-time high

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/01/tea-party-unpopularity-alltime-high-poll/#

Two months after they voted in droves to topple Democrats from the House and expand Republican voices in the Senate, the tea party movement's disapproval ratings have reached a new high, according to a new ABC/Washington Post poll.

Fifty-two percent of the US public had an unfavorable view of "the political movement known as the Tea Party," the survey found, as opposed to only 35 percent who approved.

<<<<<<snip>>>>>>

The same poll conducted in September found that 45 percent disapproved of the movement, while 36 percent supported it. Last March, its favorable rating exceeded its negative by a margin of 41 to 39 percent.

The shift may reflect a populace growing uncomfortable with the divisiveness of the tea party's designated leaders, such as former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, Fox News host Glenn Beck, and Minnesota Republican Michele Bachmann.

Seriously, who wants to be associated with these losers. Their ship is sinking fast. This recent 'repeal of healthcare' is a joke since it was nothing more than a ceremonial vote by the house. The tea party has accomplished NOTHING just like the republican idiots theys support.

1. This is like "Approval of 3D TV at an All Time Low"
"Approval of Model Year 2012 Cars at an All Time Low!"

That is what happens when Dicky Armey and his ilk manufacture a movement and suck idiots in.

2. Doesn't matter now.. It's 2 months post-election
and they are no longer needed.. They served their purpose..got a few bus rides & some box lunches & felt pretty good about themselves.. Now they are like used kleenex..tossed aside.

The sad part is that they think they are just being held in reserve ..waiting for that bugle to blow again so they can get reactivated.

It will happen again, but not until closer to the next election. No use wasting money & time on people who can't vote again for a long time.

The teabag people were never that universally "loved" anyway.

They are just one more fragment of the "base".. They were useful idiots from Aug '09-Nov '10.. they are no longer needed

5. K&R......"Their ship is sinking fast"
"Loose lips sink ships" is a phrase that comes to mind. This phrase was coined as a slogan during WWII. "Loose Lips Might Sink Ships". This was one of several similar slogans which all came under the campaigns basic message - "Careless Talk Costs Lives".

Both sound like tea party to me......

6. happens with every social 'movement' ...
... bickering from the inside, power struggles, an attempt to 'define itself' ... leads to some major stupidity and massive fuckups. Only a truly disciplined, well-led organization with a very focused message and membership would be able to avoid looking like a fucktastrophe.

That said, the Baggers are welcome to self-destruct in public all they want. I'll spring for the

7. The don't need to be popular, they only need to be...
...very active and energized compared to those who disagree with them.

This last November, they were active and energized, while apathetic and disillusioned Democrats were not.

As for their "accomplishments", they helped water down the HCR bill we currently have, even if the repeal "is a joke". They will likely manage to "accomplish" a lot of obstructionism over the next two years, not to mention the ability they now have to abuse the investigative powers of the House.

I certainly hope this leads to them being even less popular come 2012, but they're happy to make people angry and make the country suffer as long as the bulk of the anger can be misdirected at Democrats, just like what happened in November.

9. ...and to have non-stop coverage in the media.
I believe some of their gatherings of 1,000s were dwarfed by anti-war demonstrations of 100,000s but who got all the media attention (and spin)?
