Cops = Pigs ??
I've seen it mentioned several times. How dangerous is it when there is no law enforcement at all? Is that what we want? I would say "No".

However, it is rather strange how we, the people, are so willing to accept brutality without questioning its legitimacy. When is it ever legitimate?

Do the cops (Pigs) have the public's support when they put on their high-top boots, their helmets and face guards, their bulletproof vests, their shields, their pepper gas, their tear gas, their automatic weapons, their helicopters, and beat the hell out of people with their billy clubs?

When did that become acceptable in a free country? How much free speech and free movement is actually acceptable in our society? Are you afraid?

9. And when the cops that aren't pigs are ordered to do things that are piggish
what are they then?

"Not a pig" that's simply following orders?

Police officers, in general, will lose more and more respect within our society if these activities continue.

Of course, I guess they can still count on the support of the 28% who supported Bush throughout his entire Presidency since the cops seem to be beating up and assaulting leftists. That's acceptable behavior to many of the 28%. And at least 28% is better than Congress, huh?

Not that this situation would ever happen, but if the cops were attacking right wing protestors over such a period of time I damn well KNOW that lefties would be there to support their First Amendment rights. Right wingers are currently cheering the cops on. It's so fucking disgusting and un-American.

Sorry for using the curse words. It's not directed at you in any way, but the enormity of the situation our nation is facing. There has been some crazy shit going on in this country, and I'm finding myself using curse words more and more.

11. It's much more than the character and personalities of individual officers
It's the culture in which those individuals work. Many times that culture trains, encourages and promotes the "pig" as the model for a good cop.

The police are not the ones who need defending at the moment.

8. The police culture in most places is very much "Us vs. Them"
Very militaristic in outlook, in lingo and in equipment. Not public servants in the community but warriors in a warzone. No it's not all, but it is very much the prevailing culture in urban police departments. "It's a jungle out there." "We're on the front-lines." There was recently an officer killed in the line of duty here in Indianapolis. It was a tragic, senseless thing. He was a good cop. But in his eulogy the police department chaplain referred to him repeatedly as a "fallen warrior". No, that's wrong. He wasn't a warrior, he wasn't fighting a war, the citizens, even those he has to arrest, are not his enemies. That to me is a big problem and it is part of the reason police can resort to violence and brutality in any given situation.

even Paul Simon got into the act with his song: Pigs, Sheep, and Wolves. Sounds like it was about a specific case.
