So are you going to vote for Obama, or some Republican, or stay home?
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 03:34 PM by Cyrano
As far as I'm concerned, I have no choice.

Obama has moved from disappointment, to disillusionment, to Republican light.

Nonetheless, there's no way I can ever vote for any member of the maniac party.

And staying home is not an option since it's the same as voting for a maniac.

So I'm stuck voting for the worst Democratic President in my lifetime.

It seems that's the only choice I have. What's yours?

2. There are always choices.
And "staying home" is never an option for me.

As for me, I will vote for the person I feel best represents my interests and what I want for the future of our Country.

43. Same here, and for the same reasons.
I will not vote for Obama again. I made up my mind on that score several months ago. Unless something unforeseen happens, I will write in Bernie Sanders. First time in my life I won't be voting for the so-called "lesser of two evils." I just don't see much difference between the lesser one and the greater one.

3. I think you need to leave Obama out of the equation. Yes vote for him but work to elect Progressive...
where ever you can.

I have long ago given up on seeing change come from Obama. He is the best choice in 2012 for President so far but I don't plan my 2012 electioneering around Obama like I did in 2008.

20. kind of feeling that way
My vote and participation are out there for Obama to win. There is no Republican likely to win the nomination that will get my vote. They suck. There are however people down ticket and issues down ticket worth me voting on. It would be crazy to stay home. Since I'm going to show up, I'll probably vote Obama anyways. My focus atm is down ticket because for every good Obama thing I think about, a lot of Obama things leave me less than interested. Perhaps next year when everything will be full campaign mode he'll fire me up enough to forget wtf Gitmo is still open etc...

23. The alternative is to give up.
No good at all comes of Obama being renominated by acclimation. If that happens, there can't even be a good reason to have the damn convention.

It's right-wing to want an Obama re-coronation. The man can never be popular again.

56. By "re-coronation", I meant an uncontested renomination
To do that is to endorse everything he's done to the party's activists and to give up on working for anything better in the future. It also means making the next convention a pointless exercise-as useless as the 2004 John Kerry "resume'" convention.

I will not be voting for any Republican, that's for damned sure.

What I am going to do with my vote remains an open question at this point and probably won't be resolved until I see the last pre-election surveys for my state. If it's close I will hold my nose and vote for Obama. If not, well, we will see.

I've never voted Republican and I'm not going to start now. The Republican candidate will probably carry my state with 55% to 60% of the vote, so I should at least be able to vote my conscience. For the first time, it looks like I'll be voting third-party for President.

He's not perfect, but he's not a raving lunatic hell bent on destroying this country, either. Not voting or writing in someone is basically going to give the election to the 'pubs, and if that happens, God help us. It happened with Bush and it can happen again. We can't afford to have that happen again.

57. I wish more states had cross-endorsement like NY does
with cross-endorsement, Working Families (the closest thing we have to a true Labor party) can put Obama (and Gillibrand, Schumer, etc.) on its own ballot line while still running its own candidates for other offices. That takes care of the "you're just throwing your vote away" canard.

41. Definitely voting Obama
I can't stay home and there are many elections where I'm trying to pick between the lesser of two evils (I don't think ever R is evil or every D is good, local elections are different than national), this isn't one of them. He is still so much better than any of the Republicans running, I just wish he didn't give into their demands and threats so much. I understand compromise, I understand not getting everything you want but damn. Take the healthcare mandate for example, good intentions, never gonna pass the Republicans but then to make it worse by mandating crap, overpriced insurance through a for profit?
They (Republicans) are deliberately stonewalling and letting bad bills go through knowing the people will, at least partially, blame the Dems. The abysmal approval rating for Congress isn't only for the Republicans.

46. I'm stuck too.
We may have some leverage thanks to the OWS movement.

Obama may realize that he really can't continue to try to take no stance and just ride on whatever is happening.

The people who strongly supported Obama in the weeks before the election, the folks whose work put him over the top are not out there demonstrating because he has not stood up for them.

The unions stood up for Obama. Obama's support for unions has been puny and weak.

The students stood up for Obama. Tuition hikes and privatization of education have increased under Obama -- and at his direction.

63. I guess its to each his own as I don't agree that he is anything you say
I see a person who is working his way through the shit that is Washington and making little steps ever step he takes. I don't see the dismal picture that you must see and am sure glad I don't. I think our President has made progress for us, the average joe, from day one. He's a black man and many can't grasp that a black man can be President so he's sorta got his hands tied there and the same people think because his father was a Kenyan they don't accept him for being legitimate. He's been climbing a mighty big hill since the day he was sworn in. I heard what he said to me when he was campaigning and as I see it he has been as true to his word as circumstances allow. Things take time and Things change and what we need is some big changes and complaining and berating this President isn't in our best interest. He is probably the last chance we'll get at having a decent human being as our leader for a long time, longer than I'm got to live. I support him 100%, knowing full well that no man is perfect.

Go on back to your hating on President Obama now, I don't care, it doesn't mean anything to anyone except you anyway and hate is not a good way to spend ones time on this earth.

May peace find you

68. meh
If the Democratic Candidate is Obama...I will vote for him. Things will only get worse in his next term...but would be "worser" under any Republican.

I am doomed!
