1. Oh yeah...
So much K & R to this.

(Though I do take exception with some of his words.)

2. I know, foul (not as bad as I get sometimes) but he hit the point.

3. Oh, I don't mind the foul language...I use far worse
I'm talking about using words like 'retards'. Not really necessary to get the point across. Might just be me, though.

6. Don't let it take away from
the actual message, the guy is right. I know some are offended by certain terms but the message is still there, even if un-pc.

8. Not at all...
I work for an animal shelter. I agree 100% (more if I could) with him.

22. I agree
whenever I see that in a screed, it makes me dismiss the rest of it. I can't stand "retards" being used as a pejorative.

It's just a thing. One of my closest friends 'trained' me to think that way after her older sister went through a number
of operations that affected her development, and neighborhood kids started dropping that insult on her. It's just
something that really irks me.

5. It breaks my heart to read the pet ads on Craigslist
There are so damned many beautiful cats, kittens, dogs and puppies that need homes.

7. Our family dog is dog aggressive. Completely passive towards humans but dog aggressive
I so wanna scream when the good dogs are coming up leash-less or on a 30 foot retractable lead just to say hi. It will end up in a fight. I have had to walk my dog in a muzzle just because you won't control your dog. It's infuriating. Animals are occasionally unpredictable and do live by the same codes of nicety and decorum we do. Please leash your dog, not because your dog is a bad dog, but because it is the responsible thing to do. Oh yeah, dog is a pit bull I got from the humane society, he was minding his own business until your lab shoved his nose up my dogs ass and came out with teeth bared.

16. Absolutely agree about leashing dogs. A responsible pet owner leashes
his/her dog when it is out in public.

11. Well, he or she is certainly a bit exorcised!
I have to agree with all of the points made, though. People should be smarter when it comes to caring for animals; of course, some of them aren't world beaters when it comes to raising kids, either.

The only thing I'd add is HARNESSES as well as leashes. Many dogs can find their windpipes damaged from straining on a leash. A good harness (the one click ones are great) does the trick brilliantly and doesn't put a strain on the dog's neck.

This person must have had another job to go to--who quits a job in this economic environment without another one lined up? Hope whoever replaced this individual can handle the strain of the work.

12. We use a haltie or a gentle leader that gives us much more control
over our animal. If he pulls it turns his head back towards me virtually eliminating his forward momentum. He disliked it at first but adapted very well. And no strain on the neck, no choke collars, etc.

13. I know someone who's dog had a similar issue.
He tried all kinds of contraptions from choke collars to harnesses to anti-jump halters. None of it worked. Some of it made it worse.

THEN he bought a few books and trained himself...and then worked with the dog. A few months later, the problem was totally solved.

It can be done. You can do it.

All the best.

18. I use a Gentle Leader, too. I've got problems with both shoulders
and two big dogs. When I only had one, I took him for training classes wearing a harness. The trainer asked me why and I told him it was supposed to be a no-pull harness. He asked me if it worked and I had to admit, the dog still pulled. He told me it was BECAUSE of the harness, asked what do you put on a dog when you want him to pull a sled? A harness. What do you put on a horse when you want him to pull a wagon? A harness. Harnesses are made for pulling. He suggested the gentle leader and after about thirty seconds of the dog trying to get it off, he started walking right beside me and never pulled my arms again. I've used it ever since and recommended it to many other people who all thanked me.

his use of "retards" as a pejorative really irks me and makes me think he's an idiot.

It just takes one thing.....

24. Interesting you should say that because as I was reading it...
I alternated between the impression of it being a male or a female and was conscious I was doing so.

I love creative insult, and it sure is ALL well deserved.

hineyholes. ;) drive up to second window and receive a punch in the face.

SPAY and NEUTER, jerks!! Wish I could spay and neuter (with a rusty pliers and an eggbeater) the morons who don't do this; if you don't have the money, there are vets that will help or advise you where to find assistance.
