Former Philadelphia Police Captain Ray Lewis, In Cuffs
http://www.observer.com/2011/11/former-philadelphia-police-captain-ray-lewis-arrested-ows/raylewis2/

This amazing image comes to us via tipster Lauren Thorpe, who wrote in ” I’ve been down at OWS all morning and am heading back down there again now,” with an attachment of former Philadelphia police Captain Ray Lewis, who was arrested today in conjunction with the Occupy Wall Street protests. There is simply nothing more bizarre than looking at images of a man in police uniform arrested and handcuffed by people wearing lower-ranking NYPD garb.

Here he is speaking last night:

Sure there has been some badge heavy assholes doing the work of the rich and well connected but America is also filled with
thousands of "Capt. Rays" who help make the world a better place.

Captain Ray = :patriot:

3. I thought there were some NYPD who refused the OWS detail
There are law enforcement in many states that do get it. They've seen their pensions threatened, the threat of lay offs. The others are either afraid of not obeying or they really love that sadistic authoritarian crap and listen to pukes like rush limpballs.

17. Defections and cracks are usually silent.
But you can be assured they are happening. This photo will only help that process.

29. Not even then.
Knocking down doors of the wrong house and shooting people. Calibrating devices to get dui convictions.

Beating that kid to death in Fullerton. And much more! No, the police have a long way to go to rid

themselves of being called pigs. Captain Lewis is a rare species.

23. Thousands VS 10's of thousands
Actually, by what I have seen, Tens vs tens of thousands. For every Captain Ray Lewis, there appear to be 100 Tony Baloneys and 10,000 J. Hargraves'.

36. Right, because plumbers beat people to death
and rough up anyone they come across. Or nurses, machinists, janitors, etc...

You are swimming upstream. NO profession puts more hurt on the public besides politicians.

where all the folks went who cheered the cops supporting the anti-Walker protesters back in February. They weren't pigs then. Just 7 months ago, DU loved Wisconsin cops. What short memories we have.
I come from a family of cops. The police beatings of protesters if abhorrent and must be prosecuted, end of story. But I refuse to issue blanket condemnations of all cops. That's what Republicans do.

Oh, and in case some of you doubt me:

41. w/out a doubt some cops are bad but .....
.... every day cops put their life on the line to help people and to protect us from some really awful people.

My next door neighbor was a policeman and everyday his wife worried if he was going to come home after his shift.

I respect this man, he is out there speaking out loud in defence of what our country is supposed to be about. :patriot:

35. Every cop is a criminal, and all the sinners saints
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a generals rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
Cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, um yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Oh yeah!
Tell me baby, what's my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, what's my name
I tell you one time, you're to blame
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
What's my name
Tell me, baby, what's my name
Tell me, sweetie, what's my name
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Ooo, who, who
Oh, yeah
