American imperialism - expanding ever onward!
Looks like American imperialism shows absolutely no signs of weakening, and in fact appears to be tightening its grip around the world.

NATO expanding to Ukraine and Georgia - who cares if we piss off the Russians even more? Nothing would say "F YOU" more than adding former Soviet members.

Establishing a military presence in Australia - who cares if we piss off the Chinese?

What we need is a real honest-to-god conservative president like Reagan, so we can place nuclear missiles in the Ukraine pointed right at the Kremlin. After all, we're the good guys! Doesn't matter if we would have been pissed if the Soviets had added Mexico and Cuba to the Warsaw Pact. After all, we almost went to war with the Soviets because of missiles in Cuba, although we were doing the same thing to them. Because we're the good guys.

I get the feeling that the powers that be are just itching for another World War. After all, less than 20 years separated the first two World Wars, and now it's been nearly 70 years since the last one.

1. it proves that it doesn't matter who is in power
it's the war business as usual.
I hope the occupiers and all of us can take up this cause. It's so disheartening to see how nothing has changed.

2. "An attack on any member shall be considered to be an attack on all."
That is not necessarily a bad policy, but when NATO initiates attacks on other sovereign nations, e.g., Libya, I am forced to rethink my position.

It is true that we enforce our imperialistic domination through economic and diplomatic arm twisting; but when compared to previous empires, (e.g., Mongolian/Genghis Khan, The Third Reich/Hitler), we are a gentle giant.

But NATO was not drawn up to effect the building of empires; rather, its purpose was to establish a means for a collective self-defense of member nations.

3. Is there any legitimate reason for NATO to expand into Ukraine and Georgia?
IMHO the only reason for doing so is to thumb our nose at Russia.

4. Or the Ukraine and Georgia are worried about Russia trying to recapture them
And are looking for protection.
