She's the judge who ORed Sandusky. Turns out she was involved in Sandusky's charity. They finally yanked her and put a new judge on the case. Maybe the bail will be set where it ought to be.

But that's beside the point.

Dutchcot should be removed from the bench and disbarred for not recusing herself from an OBVIOUS conflict of interest. But nooooooo. There is no doubt in my mind that everyone with any power in and around State College, PA was aware of this connection. but until the connection became public knowledge, no one said jack fucking shit.

This sort of shit goes on all the time and at all levels of jurisdiction.

Just last week we saw Fat Nino and Slappy supping with drug lords, the same drug lords who will see their cases come before the court on which said Nino and Slappy sit in judgement.

Think of a corrupt third world country.

Now think of the US of A.

Please describe to me the differences.

I'm not even surprised or angry about this. I'm just disgusted.

1. Someone described Happy Valley as right out of a Steven King book..
And all this time we thought he was writing fiction. :wow:

Most fiction is based on some facts.

2. Can they do that - reset bail?
Better yet - deny bail and put him in a cell?

News showed pics of him having a treadmill delivered. Seems poor guy lost his gym privs at the college so he is buying his own equipment apparently. The heart just breaks for him, doesn't it?

5. Ruby the Liberal!
To hell with due process, to hell with the presumption of innocence, to hell with pretrial incarceration being a last resort based upon risk of flight. Very liberal of you Ruby. Don't worry, you are in the majority here.

6. If you are outraged about bail, you are mostly interested in vengeance
If you actually believed in the presumption of innocent you would want the accused to be jailed before trial only as a last resort. But what "disgusts" you and practically the entire DU community is that you have already convicted the guy in your mind. You can't possible think that a guy with a thousand cameras following his every move is a flight risk. You don't want him in jail because you fear he will flee. You hate the guy and you want him to start being punished immediately. Punishment should come after a fair trial. Once he's had his day in court and his convicted I also hope he gets an appropriately severe punishment, but I don't want him tarred and feathered by the mob.

7. Nice deflection, Counsellor. I am outraged by crooked judges and and a corrupt justice system
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 03:11 PM by Stinky The Clown
Try addressing the OP after the line: "But that's beside the point."

On edit: Why do you assume I want to see him in jail, specifically? Maybe $100K bail? Maybe more? Maybe less. But OR? Really? Around here, bail is often set in even minor traffic cases.

I knew someone would try to deflect. There you are, right on cue. You win the prize

What would you prefer? A kewpie doll or the big stuffed ape?

9. I know I've told you this before... There was no bail, he didn't pay a nickel..
For all practical purposes he was released on his own recognizance..
