A historical perspective.
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 02:00 PM by county worker
Between 1764 and 1776 no colony or group of citizens offered a definite set of demands or definite political proposals to the king of England yet they all knew what the injustices were and they formed groups in every colony to oppose those injustices.

Not until 1776 was there a document that they all agreed presented a list of reasons for their revolution.

1764 - February: James Otis urges a united response to the recent acts imposed by England. The phrase "Taxation without Representation is Tyranny" is usually attributed to James Otis
July: James Otis publishes "The Rights of the British Colonies Asserted and Proved."

United States Declaration of Independence in 1776
