Toronto school bans hard balls
Toronto school bans hard balls

Students at an east-end Toronto school are being told to leave their soccer balls — and other hard balls — at home.

The principal of Earl Beatty Public School banned the balls this week after a parent recently suffered a concussion from being hit in the head with a soccer ball.

The principal, Alicia Fernandez, banned hard balls, claiming they're dangerous.

"Kids were coming in complaining of injury, or being scared," she said.

2. Maybe parents should keep their damned eyes open
when walking around a playground.

I'm surprised you don't have to wrap the kids in bubblewrap just to get them in the bloody door.

Now I guess they'll just have to sit on the blacktop during recess, can't have them in the dirt they may encounter the terror of an ant or something.

4. Oh FFS.
I'd like to see the person who kicked the ball hard enough to give that person a concussion. I hope there's medical evidence... but even if there is... it's still idiotic.

5. Well, I guess Tweety's out of luck at that school.
;-)

Next they should take a look at nerf balls -- I mean, they might give off nerf gas. ;-)

6. Idiocy
Knee jerk reaction, not the first time school systems over-react to something small and won't be the last. Kids were complaining and being scared? Of soccer balls?!? Kids have become sissies and the over-reacting made them that way.
