NYPD Surrounding Liberty Plaza - No one is allowed in or out - Barricaded 1:40 pm est
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 02:23 PM by 1776Forever
Check it out here:

http://www.ustream.tv/theother99

Tim reporting unmarked police cars - The police had let the protesters in earlier. Tim reports it was due to one person that was "kicking" the barricades. Tim was told 8 cops jumped the guy and tore some of his clothes and shoes off and hit him in the head with a police baton (this may or may not be true: will be verified later with video of incident later).

Update: Allowed back in park at 2:10 pm est. Protesters allowed in and out now.

36. They did it last time at the Brooklyn Bridge. They were waiting en mass, they were already there
and lured protesters right into the trap.

NYPD are moneypuppets. They are criminal.

52. Turned into goon squads imo.
Working for the 1% really must suck, since all cops have to know that THEY are next on the chopping block...goodbye pensions and when it happens I don't WANT TO HEAR THE WHINING! We are fighing for ALL the 99% and the COPS are just as much 99% as the people they violate.

Stupid, but lapdogs often follow any order, even unlawful ones.

9. If you're being detained, they have to tell you why.
If they are not going to arrest and charge you, they cannot detain you.

15. In practice, that isn't true.
They can detain you. They hold you like a sack of garbage as long as they want and then, in exchange for processing you out, they have you sign a slip saying you were not arrested, only detained.

20. Not true since the passage of the Patriot Act.
THAT was what Cheney and his evil asshole cronies meant when they said, '9/11 changed everything'. They really meant that you should give up 'some' of your rights to 'feel safer'. And we did.

48. Brandon Watts may be the young man hit in the head by NYPD today-

Found this talks about Brandon from Romania:

Occupy Wall Street Protesters Ask: What Next? November 16, 2011 12:10pm

...Brandon Watts, 20, whose eyes were bloodshot after spending the night at a nearby McDonalds, said he thought the days of Occupy Wall Street at Zuccotti Park were numbered.

“It’s all done here. I think I’m going to go to DC to protest,” Watts said. “I’m very tired and cold now. We’re not going to survive the winter with this situation.”

“Some of us want to fight to have the tents back. But it’s not going to work,” added Watts, who came from the States from Romania 11 years ago. “Maybe we'll find another spot.”
