Turf War? Glendale Bans Fake Grass on Front Yards
GLENDALE (CBS) — The city of Glendale is imposing a ban on artificial grass. Notices are going out to homeowners whose front yards are covered in turf.

Geneva Dotson says she was forced to pay crews $3,000 to rip up her brand new front yard after receiving a notice from city hall.

“There’s enough drama in life without having the city breathing down my back,” says Dotson. “I’m very angry about it, to tell you the truth.”

So, what’s the gripe? City officials say the concern is related to the plastic and chemicals used in the artificial turf.

1. Why?
It uses less water, and California often has water shortages.

3. How about taking these numbskulls
and putting a giant bag around their property with them trapped in it. Let them get a in your face primer on the oxygen cycle and why green stuff is good.

6. SoCal is semi-arid, not desert
but your point stands: there are plenty of native plants that provide "green stuff" like oxygen without sucking ever more water from the North.

Have you been to Southern California in the summer?
It doesn't rain. So if you want a nice green lawn, you have to water it. That is an incredible waste of water, a precious resource that southern California has little of.
Jeez louise.
