High School football hazing "sexual assult" - school did nothing

A Great Falls High School senior faces criminal charges after reportedly participating in sexually explicit hazing on the Bison football team this fall.

Additionally, Great Falls Public Schools is launching an internal investigation after it was revealed in court documents that Great Falls High School administrators knew of the allegations for nearly two months, but failed to report them to police.

Alex Mauricio Botina-Roehm, 18, is charged with felony sexual intercourse without consent and two misdemeanor counts of sexual assault after he allegedly hazed two of his teammates earlier this fall.

Great Falls Police began investigating the matter Friday, after family members of one of the alleged victims called police. According to court documents, the family called police because the alleged conduct hadn't stopped, and they believed the issue hadn't been addressed by the school.

There was also a sexual assult on players by older players in Kalispell on a bus ride after a game.

KALISPELL — Two of six Glacier High School freshman football players who were suspended from school and kicked off the team after reports of bullying on the team bus now face criminal charges.

Kalispell police say one 15-year-old boy is charged with sexual assault while another is charged with accountability to sexual assault. The charges were filed in Youth Court and the boys' names were not released.

The other four involved in the alleged assault of as many as eight teammates don't face criminal charges, but may face further punishment by the school.

Parents and grandparents of students on the bus told police that several players were taken to the back of the bus and assaulted and molested as the team returned from a game in Missoula on Sept. 12.

Not supposed to be funny.

4. As a gay man, I have often wondered how much homosexual activity goes on in sports.
I was never 'one of the guys' and never played on sports, so was always ignorant of all of that, but stories like this make me think, maybe this kind of thing - whether consensual or not - went on all the time? Not like they would talk much about it.

In this case, it seems it was nonconsensual, and it should be condemned.
