Why does every right leaning "pundit" parrot the same talking points
no matter what the age, sex or race, they all say the same thing.

What does that tell you about the intellectual level of those on the right?

They are all combative, all say the same thing, always directed the conversation back to fit the message of the day.

Intellectual laziness or total contempt for their audience in the way that they don't trust them to formulate their own opinions is what I see.

And I think this frustrates those of us on the intellectual left.

We want those on the left to be like those on the right, but do we really want our folks to be parroting some left wing Rovian character determining talking for the intellectual left.

For instance, today on MSNBC, they are talking about Solynda being an example of government intervening in the market place but I would answer what the hell is happening with the oil business getting massive tax write offs to write off all their costs of developing an oil field before one hole is drilled...

In 2009, the oil industry paid not one cent in federal tax. Why? Because they had preferential tax treatment. Whether you get your money up front or on the back side, it's all money from the fed.

2. Because they all come from the same place in the middle of the spider web
and it's looking more and more like the middle of that web is inhabited by a tiny handful of ridiculously wealthy old men, with Charles and David Koch fronting the whole thing. They give the orders and their stink tanks come up with the Orwellian language and every blowhard who wants to keep his job repeats it ad infinitum because we all know right wingers are kinda slow.

3. Because they all get their daily talking points
from Grover Norquist on most issues. This is no BS, as Norquist's talking points were sent to some lefty journalist or pol a few years back. Can't remember the details or Google it right now.

4. 'cause it's so much easier than having to think for one's self?
I've long maintained that's the reason there are so many fundamentalist Christians. It's easier to have the minister or Reverend tell you what to believe than it is to figure it out for yourself.

6. honest truth -- they get a "message" every morning
Used to be sent by FAX, probably now by other means. It has the talking points of the day. Coordinated. Frank Luntz is probably doing the framing.

This is the truth. They get daily talking points.

10. And Limbaugh and Hannity are the bullhorns.
It's a tight-knit operation. I'm surprised that even many "informed" democrats are ignorant of this (or just do not believe it).

21. and if you repeat the talking point over and over again
on every channel it will finally (like a hypnotic suggestion), become a talking point to the masses. Now repeat after me, "Gore is a liar", "Gore is a liar." "Dean is unstable" "Dean is unstable." "I want to have a beer with little boots," "I want to have a beer with little boots." "Iraq can strike us at any time, be very afraid," "Iraq can strike us at anytime, be very afraid."

28. and have been doing this for like 20 years now
and they memorize the points, never go off message, and have gone to 'How to Monopolize the Conversation' training seminars.

They are disciplined and understand that it is a game played to win.

The Democratic Party is full of 'smart' people who can't be bothered to prepare for anything, think they know all the answers, enjoy having intellectual discussions with adversaries who are doing nothing of the sort, politely wait their turn to speak, and generally have no clue what the situation they are in actually is.

7. Because they're the right-leaning-pundit talking points.
If a RW pundit said something else, it would sow confusion as to whether the words came from a "true" RW pundit.

8. Meanwhile, DU is bitterly fractured over something as commonly agreeable as OWS
The sameness of RW talking points may seem an easy target for ridicule but the fractures in our own camps are the more pronounced detriment.

For a couple of decades now I've mourned the fact that Democrats don't seem to have a goddam strategist of note. Message control has helped the right wing misinform America.

9. Punditry is an industry and talking points are essential tools like hammers and nails
They're not paid by the commercial networks for originality of thought. They know the corporate media wants two sides to any issue and they want the same back-and-forth, over and over and over and over again. Thinking outside the box isn't something the corporate media pays for, as their primary goal is selling a known entertainment product and the pundits know what is asked of them.

30. it's called orchestration.
they aim to have a chorus of voices repeating the same slogans, catch-phrases, sneer-laden mocking epithets, etc., to constantly reinforce their right-wing messages and biases.

they're marketing for the republican brand. they are NOT independent thinkers presenting unique and sometimes quirky perspectives. that's the province of democrats.

32. While the right wing is too lock-step, the left is not enough
The left in this country (if it even exists at the leadership level) does not seem to think of itself as a team with common goals.

They've spent too many years just saying, "Well, we're not the other guys..."
