'South Park' pokes fun at Penn State problems
There’s no topic too taboo for “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They’ve proved time and time again that they’re willing to “go there” on their show with almost any current event, no matter how sensitive the subject. Wednesday night’s season finale, which was packed with one-liners about the Penn State scandal, was no exception.

When a beer-fueled rage led to the arrests of Ma and Pa McCormick, Kenny and his siblings were left to the mercy of one not-so-reassuring social worker.

“I’ve been looking over my file and see you kids have all been horribly physically and emotionally abused,” Mr. Adams began. “Oh, whoops! That isn’t your case file. It’s the Penn State University Gazette. Ha! I’m joking. That’s just a joke. We like to have fun here. It is your case file. I was all just like, ‘It’s the Penn State Gazette,’ to be like a joke. We have fun.”

But the wannabe comedian didn’t stop there. When Kenny’s little sister wouldn’t stop crying, he really let the inappropriate zingers fly. “I’m going to get you to smile!” he cheered. “A Penn State administrator walks into a bar … Where’s that smile? How about this one? Joe Paterno doesn’t walk into a police station… C’mon, that’s a good one!”

1. JoePa doesn't walk into a police station -- yeah, that's a good one.
But what a set of choices: Neverland Ranch, the Catholic Church, or PSU. Ooh, poor kids. ;-)

3. South Park takes the Gilbert Gottfried approach - nothing is off limits
and rightfully so - all really good comedians know this. Michael Ian Black made a few Penn State jokes on Craig Ferguson's show last night - you could tell that all but a few were cut from the show though.

4. Yeah, but they were weak and really forced.
As so many of South Park's jokes have been for the last couple of years, and I consider myself to be a pretty big fan. The show is starting to run out of gas, especially when Stan, Kenny, Kyle, Cartman and Butters aren't the focus. That "Broadway" episode did not have one joke in it and was just horrible.
