The Democrats in the supercommittee are caving,
The Democratic plan has $200 billion in Medicare beneficiary cuts, a level that exceeds the beneficiary cuts in Bowles-Simpson (the Gang of Six is not specific on this point) and is eight times the level of Medicare beneficiary cuts in the budget plan that President Obama released on September 19. Since half of Medicare beneficiaries have incomes below about $21,000, it would be extremely difficult to secure $200 billion in savings from increased Medicare beneficiary charges without requiring significantly larger out-of-pocket payments by beneficiaries with incomes as low as $12,000 or $15,000.

Luckily the Republicans are so crazy they won't accept anything.

2. They caved before they were selected.
They were selected for a reason.

This is just theater.

We're gonna have to stay in the streets for awhile.

9. No doubt.
The whole system has been revealed to be corrupt.

I have no idea how they are going to distract the masses from this corruption, but I have no doubt it's going to be ugly.

Meanwhile, the Democratic plan is well to the right of Simpson and even further to the right of Domenici.

Again, that is Simpson and Domenici.

Which Democrat wouldn't be thrilled and proud?

Is it soup yet?

7. The republicans may not accept anything until it screws democrats
And having the democrats screw medicare recipients is a pretty good way for the R's to let the democrats hang themselves if the d's are so willing as to offer it.

11. I dare them to make an agreement with the GOP with these kinds of cuts
And watch how many Democrats are thrown out of office come election time! They wouldn't dare or be this stupid would they, well, maybe they would on second thought.

14. also note the small revenue increases in the plan:
Even though the "Democratic plan contains $73 billion more in Medicare and Medicaid cuts ($475 billion) than Bowles-Simpson ($402 billion), and the same or a greater amount of cuts in this area than the Gang of Six plan," it "contains $800 to $900 billion less in revenue increases than the Bowles-Simpson and Gang of Six plans."

old, frail and poor? I surely wonder who on earth that could be. :patriot:

21. The entire concept of a "supercommittee" is a cave in
It's designed to give political cover to the President and the Democratic Party while they do the bidding of the rich.

24. Of course they are- none of it effects them
They will always be millionaires, they will always have food, a home, health care for free. People need to wake up and realize none of them are on our side. Unless we can find a way around citizens united to elect progressives who will reform the election process and financial rules, NOTHING will change. As long as politicians are owned by big mo0ney, we will never have a real say in our government.
