What I would now stress from OWS if I was able to....
Edited on Thu Nov-17-11 12:28 AM by WCGreen
Would be to make sure that everyone at every one of these encampments are registered to vote.

That way the people involved just have to say we will work and vote for people who are willing to represent the broad agenda of a more even collection of tax, a better way to ensure that nation's wealth be distributed in a way that doesn't concentrate riches or misery. Promises made and invested in will be kept. Promote measures that level the economic playing field so all can compete.

These seem to be the overall theme that I can discern as the top issues being discussed in the various camps.

When you come down to it, I think most Americans would agree with those broad ideas.

Then we just have to say we have millions of people willing to vote for people who support that agenda and work hard to remove those who lavish the nations wealth on the wealthiest of the wealthy.

It's pretty simple.

Equality of the people by the people and for the people...

1. Great idea...
Actually, I'm surprised that the Democrats (at least) have not been busy out in the camps, doing just that.

It would send a powerful message, along the lines of

I support OWS and I vote.

3. I'm not
OWS is perceived as a real honest to goodness insurgency... so no, the political class does not want to engage them if they can avoid it.

4. I suspect you may be right, unfortunately...
The current Democrats are certainly as much corporatists as the Republicans...

I think I was thinking of true Democrats, the likes of which we don't see. Well, except for Bernie Sanders and DK.

5. You are talking a self idenified
Democratic Socialist and one that is, even if nominally he is not.

The New Deal was very much that.

2. That's how to take this country back
Don't just vote for the party, but for candidates WITHIN that party, who will work in the best interests of the people. :patriot:
