Keith interviews the lady that got pepper sprayed last night in Seattle.
What a powerful segment. Dorli Rainey, she is 84. It's the featured video here right now: http://current.com/shows/countdown/videos I don't see a permalink.

Here's some background on her

Dorli Rainey's History of Activism Before She Became an Occupy Icon
By John Hudson | The Atlantic Wire – 7 hrs ago

The new face of the youth-fueled Occupy Wall Street movement is none other than an 84-year-old woman who's spent her life crusading for liberal causes. The image of pepper-sprayed Doril Rainey has quickly gone viral across Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.

As Rainey's fellow travelers in the Occupy movement hunt for more details about her, here's what we know so far.

The clash with police As photos from the clash between protesters and police from last night show, the pepper spray was being deployed fairly indiscriminately. When asked about the incident, which also involved the spraying of a pregnant woman and priest, Seattle police spokesman Jeff Kapel said pepper spray is "not age specific. No more dangerous to someone who is 10 or someone who is 80," reports the Associated Press. "We probably wouldn't be using pepper spray if that was the case."

One point worth noting is that her face isn't literally dripping with pepper spray. As The Guardian notes, "The image looks dramatic but it should be noted that the fluid dripping from Rainey's face is probably a solution applied by medics to calm the effects of the pepper spray."

downed and arrested when he was just observing outside the park, and then held for 17 hours without benefit of an attorney, was also first rate. Idanis Rodriguez is his name, iirc.

Bloomberg has blown it big time.

2. Well, isn't that special!
If it's so innocuous, maybe the pepper spray fairy should give the cops all a spritz right after roll call.

5. Wonderful! Thank you so much for posting this!
Out here, local news is interviewing the damned Seattle mayor, instead of our little Dorli.

6. I hope they tell him he should be ashamed of himself.
No, better. I hope he admits that he IS ashamed of himself, and offers his apologies.

10. Yup, that's exactly what he did...
the report was so syrupy, compared to what they did to protesters yesterday afternoon, it is hard to stomach, but here it is:

Mayor apologizes to demonstrators who were pepper sprayed
http://www.king5.com/news/cities/seattle/Mayor-apologizes-to-demonstrators-who-were-pepper-sprayed-134003193.html

And, he sure as hell ain't takin' any responsibility for the nastiness of yesterday's police action, just claims he'll be "reviewing" it.

16. Well, now Seattle cops are attacking him, too...
for the position he's taken in support of the Occupy protests. Some really nasty comments in the cop papers and blogs, condemning both Mighty McGinn and Dorli Rainey, along with OWS, and that was reported by KING5 news last night at eleven. Can't find any proof on the news website, maybe later on after the site is updated, but they said that the cops wrote that Dorli has been a thorn and a pest for decades, that McGinn should serve the protesters "warm cookies" along with the coffee he thinks they need. Sounded like some pretty vile stuff.

7. What a remarkable person.
She gives me hope that if we try hard enough, we can make a difference. Also, thanks to Keith for having her on his show. He always seems to stay ahead of the game with the guests he has on his show. I am so glad he is back on the air.

And I wonder if that would have even been possible with all the noise and hype at M$NBC.
