Like in Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

1. What book destruction?
The city announced that the Liibrary books had been stored after the Zuccotti Park eviction, and we're available for pick up. My wife who works across from Zuccotti Park says the Library has already re-opened.

7. Seizure is not destruction...
...my guess is that the City will release them again, provided they're not assembled in Zuccotti Park.

9. modern version
encrypted partition on smartphone
containing books in epub format
rooted or jailbroken phone with wifi hotspot (ad-hoc) capacity and ftp server or sftp server capacity
(or just phone to phone file share / push bluetooth capacity)

2 people meet, smile, push a button on the phones in their pockets as they pass each other, walk on with books distributed to another person

copy the books from phone to a backup microsd (today a 4 gig one can be had around 10 dollars, and will hold a pretty fair library, works to distribute those too)

solar charger for the reading device

technology now is to where information dissemination is HARD to stop
